I was a regular trekker before 1992. Even now I trek but occasionally. Once in a week, rock climbing (trekking on hill, I mean) keeps me healthy. Do you go for trekking?

I do love trekking and occasionally go for short treks, I'm currently at Kalimpong and have ample of opportunity to do so, planning for a trek into the Neora National Park bordering Bhutan next week, we did have many eventfull experience, like the one Dec '02. After crossing the Singila Peak(tri-junction of Bengal, Sikkim and Nepal), me and my friend lost track and had to stay in dense jungle in an abadoned shelter made by nomad who rear yaks, we didn't have enough firewood and shivered in our sleeping bags all through the night

You can talk of any kind of experience rare or frequent. For example tell us about 1) You faced a dreadful animal, 2) You were running short of potable water, 3) You were scared to pass through a dangerous rock, 4) You were lost without the right direction, 5) The localites were hostile and so on.

on 27 we(friends) on trek to Virat gad on Satara road. WE had to take a turn from PAnchwad to the fort.THere is a mutt at the foot village.
Distances from Panchwad:
mahabaleshwar : 44kms
Mandhar devi Kalubai:35kms
PUne:89 kms
We met the Maharaj at his mutt. He has 100 Students there and he takes care of their food, education....HE informed that he has 2 of his bhakta's at the fort.At @7 pm we began the walk to the fort. Bcoz it was already dark we were found wanting for the track to go up. Somehow we kept moving along the circumference of the hill for a long long time. Finally we decided to move upwards from a point. One of us went ahead but after sometime got stuck up. He phoned us down that he couldnt move up. WE knew there was only one way of getting in to the fort and that was through the steps which where present on one side. we were unable to find the steps ,And Finally at 10:30, after walking for @3 hrs WE decided to go down to a village at the base(Wai is 6 kms from this place).Upon reaching there the villagers told us that the path we had finally taken was the correct one, and could have led us to the steps.WE had food and slept in the village temple. In Morning at 7:30 we woke up had tea and began the walk to the fort. the path was steep adn also sleepery. After scaling some height Saurabh couldnt carry on and he decided to go down and meet u where the bike were parked. It took @2 hrs to reach to the fort. The fort is of average size and has a few temples the important one is of 'Virateshwar ".According to mythology ,The fort is said to have been built by King Virat. There r two small ponds on the fort for drinking water.View from the fort on all side is splendid with green fields all around, On one side u can see Panchagani, and below Wai.We wandered till 12.30 and then began our return journey. Just below the fort there r v.small ponds of fresh water with which we filled our bottles.According to mythology These were built by pandavas. the retun return took slightly more than 1 hr. WE started on the return journey to pune .we had a halt for lunch in between. All in all a good trek!
