Rating responses does help. It actually helps the responder, which makes them more likely to respond to your discussions or give you a rating when you respond to theirs. I usually only give - to those that answer with one or two words, or to those that don't stick with the topic. It is also important to give out "best response" in your discussions. It appears to pay more to respond to other peoples discussions (you should rate those also). I only start discussions if I believe have a good topic. And do a keyword search before you start a topic, so you aren't copying someone elses' discussion. The key is really quality discussions and responses...at least two sentances or more. If you upload images do it in your discussions or responses or in your interests category. That is where you get paid for them. You don't get paid for uploading photos to your profile page where it says photos. I hope this helps you too. I hope this helps you out. Good luck and welcome to myLot.

While strting a discussion you must hav a look at following guidlines provided by mylot.com --- Guidelines: 1. Do not start discussions promoting your own referral links. If answering a question where a link is appropriate, referral URLs are acceptable. It is not acceptable to add a link with a referral to the end of any post. 2. Do not use all capital letters or excessive punctuation. 3. Do not start discussions promoting a milestone, such as birthdays, anniversaries, reaching a certain myLot rating, etc. This is best celebrated via private messaging with your myLot friends. 4. Do not post copyrighted photos and material as your own. Using a link to this type of material is the proper way to reference it. This includes items such as non-original song lyrics, poems, news stories, and photos. Encyclopedia, dictionary and Wikipedia material is also not acceptable. Use a link. 5. Copying posts from other users is a strict violation of the myLot community guidelines. Anyone who participates in this activity will have their account cancelled without warning and will forfeit all accumulated earnings. 6. Photos inserted into a discussion or interest must relate to the discussion or interest. Photos not related to the discussion will be deleted and repeated offenses will result in the cancellation of your account. 7. Poll, survey and yes or no type discussions are not allowed. 8. Users are welcome from around the world, but all discussions should be written in English.

simple advice - advice given to one that may actually do what it takes to make a dollar or two at this site which allows for that opportunity
If you read the page they detail it pretty well, however, here goes. Respond with 3 or 4 lines of thought out answer and always include a picture that has to do with the discussion. Go for quality and not quantity like some folk do. Good luck!
