what should we do in case of an earth quake???

my biggest concern when an earth quake begins is that i don't know what to do!! my friends have always told me that i shouldn't panic and head to the nearest exit if i am in a building or take cover!! my question now is .. what should i do if i am at home meaning a 12 storey building??? what do you think ??? look forward to to respond to your answers!!

I think you are supposed to go to a doorway because they are less likely to collapse on you but i dont know if that would help in such a tall building. I think you should probably stay away from things that could fall on you like pictures, or shelves on your walls and try to get out of the building. The stairwell is probaly a pretty safe place to be.
