Drag racing is already in the scene for a decade or two. What fun is there in taking your car and pushing it to the limits so you can go faster? But hey, I enjoy being a part of it, and so do my friends. I guess what I’m really am curious about is; when and where did it all began… is drag racing just another way for kids to piss their parents off by spending so much time and money on something meaningless? d:-)

Are you talking about actual drag racing or street racing? There is a huge difference. My husband and I are mega drag race fans. They get out their on the track and go 190-240 mph. It is such a rush even just to watch. There is a book I have called "Peterson's History of Drag Racing" that was published in 1981. The first drag strip was built in 1950 in Santa Ana, California. In 1951 the NHRA(National Hot Rod Association) was formed. One of the most famous dragsters is Big Daddy Don Garlits in 195o he went 250 mph in 5.63 seconds. You can look him up on the internet, he even has his own museum dedicated to drag racing in Florida. I will try and answer any more questions for you if I can.
