I don't think being a maid is a bad job. Any job is good as long as it pays for your living.

You are right in telling your friend that its nothing to be ashamed of. No job is ever minial. I think people indulging in robbery or stealing things or creating frauds should be ashamed of themselves not a hardworking honest person, whichever work he/she may be doing. At least ita an honest money, she is bringing home. WE have a saying in hindi I will tell you its english translation Money earned from theft always goes down the drain. meaning money earned by dishonest means never leads to anything usefull. You will either spend iot on doctor bills or in gambling or drinking, wont be able to use it for your own good.

Of course not! It is an honorable job. She should be proud of her work because she works hard for her money. And I agree with you, she is not stealing anything from anybody.

Ashamed of what? Every job that I can think of is you being a maid. I wouldn't say "maid". I always use the terms housekeeper. Because, I am one, part time. To me housekeeper or maid is cleaning up after someone. I remember my uncle use to tell me. Why you wanna do that kind of work for? You have a good head on your shoulders. You don't need to be cleaning up after people or doing that kind of work. As I see it he a truck driver and he is doing the same thing I am doing. But, he sitting on his tail driving around all day getting trash. As everyone else in the work. Everybody is not in the world by them self. Everyone is cleaning up after everyone. Doesn't matter if you are a doctor you is still cleaning/fixing up after someone. It not the money you make, it is how you get see it or get rid of it. Beside, I do not have kids, or husband or wife, or very expensive payment to make each month. "knock on wood". but I still know that i love what i do and i am not going to be ashamed of anything i do because everyone is doing the same thing. Just in different ways & making making $$$$ doing it.

The work of a maid is a needed profession. I , myself, have had a very difficult time finding a reliable person to clean my home. I have disabilities that keep me from doing very much house work. Your friend should be glad that she can help someone and get paid for it at the same time.

I don't think there is a reason to be ashamed on being a maid. My mom worked as a maid its an honest job, that pays..When i was younger my mom worked as a maid and she took care of me just fine.. And yes its so much better then stealing.. its a honest living.

It's not BAD to WORK at anything. It's BAD to be a lazy person with no work ethics. I've always said, I have more respect for the man cleaning my toilets then I do the ones sitting at home collecting a welfare check. ANY job is a decent one. And if she doesn't like her work it should give her incentive to look for something she'd enjoy more.

That is very true. There is nothing wrong with that. I respect these people and they should be treated with dignity.
