A question for all the knitters (and I know there are loads of us here!) What are you knitting right now? I have just finished a big thick scarf for my sister in law and I'm about to start on a hat I think.
If you knit and haven't added knitting to your interests, why not do so, means you'll find it easier to find discussions about knitting when they come up.

I have been working on a pair of wool socks that are yummy and warm for the winter, a dog sweater for my miniature pinscher, a dog sweater for my friend's chiuaua, and a scarf.

Right now, I am knitting squares to make into a blanket. It is sort of trial and error, so we shall see how it turns out.

Can I say too many to count? I need to finish the Prisoner of Azkaban Harry Potter Slytherin scarf I am knitting on circular needles. I finished one knitted beaded mini-purse and I have another one that needs to be sewn together and then the beads added.
I started working on a doll with self-striping fabric on the train this week.
And I've been trying to make a pair of kilt socks since Christmas a year ago. But my hands can only take so much knitting a day.

Auburn, you sound like me! Too many projects, not enough time, what with working full time, trying to keep the house clean, making some quality time for me and my kitty, seeing the rest of the family, and of course, myLot......how do we find time to do it all? I've got so many new projects in mind, but they are mostly going to be presents for next year, (my new years resolution...don't wait till the last minute anymore!)...

I have a few projects going right now. I am knitting a faroese shawl out of alpaca from elann.com, a pair of socks that I knit during church for my husband. That yarn I got on clearance from knitpicks.com.
I'm also knitting a newborn size sweater for a dear friend of mine who is due to deliver in late February. Its a top down sweater with a cable running down the front that I modified.

Just before Christmas I bought a load of beautiful yarn on impulse and began making an afghan/throw with it. It's about half way finished but it's bulky and kind of hard to handle. I'll be glad to get it finished, although I do love the color and feel of it.

I am working on sweaters for my grandkids. Each one will get a sweater as a gift for their birthday this year. Thankfully they are spaced well enough apart and it gives me enough time to complete them.

Right now, I am working on a dog sweater. I just finished a whole bunch of Christmas presents and am about to start on some new scarves and maybe try to knit my husband a sweater.

I'm always working on several projects, so if one begins to bore me, I can quickly change to another. At the moment there are three. The one is a lacy scarf, the second is a velvet yarn jacket. I bought a brand new sweater form a second hand shop for 5 EEK, and ripped it up (it was too big for me anyway), so this project will cost less than half a $ but the problem is, I have to be very careful, or the yarn will be off before my jacket is ready. And there are gloves also, of white country wool.

I am knitting a scarf right now. I usually knit smaller, quick items and never on needles smaller that size 11. I get to bored with projects that take a while. I have an ongoing project that I have been working on for a while. I knit squares, usually 12"x12" and when I have enough I will turn it into a blanket or a poncho. It is a great way to use up odd balls and salvage yarn.

I've recently taken up knitting again and i've seen this magazine that you can buy weekly called the art of knitting (uk) in the magazine each week they are giving you a square to knit with different stitches to do.
I think it will be quite expensive to keep buying all the books, so i decided with the help of the internet and peoples tips on here, i've decided to do my own. After each square i'm going to write down what i did and how and keep the throw as a reference to the different stitches etc. Not sure if it will work out.
But if anyone here has any tips i would be greatful for them.

I think thats a lovely idea. Its well worth looking in charity shops for unusual wool and needles in sizes you havent tried yet, often the stitches you are already comfortable with can look utterly different in a new yarn or size

I have never learned to knit with needles, but I have done of loom knitting in the last few months. I have several projects started, a christmas color afghan for next year, a shrug, and fingerless mitts. I usually have a few going so I can switch back and forth.

I am thinking that if my husband finds the LARGE bag of yarn I bought last night I am in BIG trouble. JoAnn's was having a going out of business sale and I went crazy.

I'm finishing up Christmas/12th Night gifts! (Naughty me! :)) One cabled scarf for FIL, fringe on MIL's scarf, and when those are done a half-dozen facecloths that will go in a "pampering" basket for a close friend.
After that...who knows!

Scarves are done! Facecloths are getting there, and I'm looking forward to knitting hubby up a cabled wool hat as a surprise! He's a human furnace, but he walks to the bus stop 4 mornings a week (about 2 blocks) and now that it's gotten cold, I think a wool cap would be a good thing for him. :)
