Saw a documenary on tv today about a woman who was HIV positive and forgot to telll her bf that when they met. He had no reason to suspect anything and they eventually got married and had 2 kids.
By a coincidens he found out about her disease after 10 or so years and confronted her... She had just told him that she didn´t think that it mattered.
Anyways, the husband and the both kids are fortunate enough and didn´t get the virus from the mom, BUT the mom won legal custody in court, and he is now seeing his kids very little since the mom moved away.
I think this is so wrong, this person had deliberately put her kids in danger adn still she is allowed to have them with her...
I also think that HIV testing before marriage would be a good idea - any comments?

HIV can be protected by using contraceptive... And it can be protected by disciplining yourself on doing such things...

I do not knw if they were using protection before marriage, but when u are narried to soemone you should not have to worry about these diseases anymore!

I AGREE WITH THIS AS SHE TOOK THE CHANCE WITH THEIR LIVES AND THEN GOT CUSTODY OF THEM. THIS SEEMS SO UNFAIR.

she might hav wanted a normal life and the price for this could have been killing three others and that i do not understand!

Yeah another thing, although what this woman did was wicked and evil, it is harder for a man to catch HIV from a woman than it is for a woman to catch HIV from a man. YOu get it?
It is easier for a man to give a woman HIV than it is for a woman to give a man HIV. So that's probably why this man did not get the virus. However for the kids, I think that is a miracle that they did not get the virus. But what probably happened is that she probably secretly told her doctor that she had the virus and so he probably gave her HIV medication while she was pregnant so that the virus could not pass on to her children. That is probably what happened. I do alot of research on alot of different topics so thats how I know

First of all, at least in most U.S. states giving someone the H.I.V. virus knowingly can amount to manslaughter or attempted manslaughter. HIV testing before marriage, might be a good idea. I, for one, put Love first on top of everything, but if she knew she was infected, she should have told him.

I do belive we have the same laws over here and that she got convicted for it as well, but she didn´t get time in prison for it since the laws here are kind of screw*d up

in my country the practice of taking the hiv test before marriage exist. although i thought it was stupid, now i changed my mind. even though she didn't know what hiv means when she got it, it was her responsability to inform about it, especially when she thought of having babies. i don't know if she realizes know that what she did was wrong and that her husband should have known this and how good of a mother she had been so far (although it's debatable since she endagered their lifes), but i'm sure that for her kids it's hard understanding all this.

HOW ON EARTH CAN YOU FORGET A VERY IMPORTANT THING LIKE THAT. IT IS ALL A LIE. SHE HAS PURPOSELY HIDDEN THE FACT FROM HIM MAYBE BECAUSE SHE WAS SCARED OF LOSING HIM AND SHE LOVED HIM. BUT SHE SHOULD HAVE NOT BEEN SELFISH AND SHOULD HAVE TOLD HIM THE TRUTH

If that woman "forgot" to tell her bf about her being HIV positive, and didn't think it mattered, well...
I think the guy is lucky to be rid of her, but I can't understand the judges who gave her custody.
Sounds like a strange story to me. Only in America ???

why r u thinking like this...although mom has got aids..fortunately father and his kida saved from HIV virus...and the danger spreading the virus from mother to her child only before marrige..after birth there is no problem
HIV test is more better than such crisis which are occur after marrige....

That´s not the point. By neglecting to tell the dad about the virus she is showing a large lacjk of morals and she is evil in my eyes..

I think the kids should be with the parent that can take care of them in the best way, and it doesn't matter that one of the parents has HIV.
I think also that she should had told her boyfreind about her condition, because he had the right to know before he married her.

I agree, the kids are whats most imporant, but i do not see how she, who lied and oput them all in danger would be better fit for it

Dang. That is terrible! SHe was being very selfish. She obviously has no heart to put others in danger like that. Yes HIV testing before marriage would be a good idea. It would mean that it could control the virus more.

i think the father should get the kids and whether it mattered or not she should have had enough respect for him to tell him when they met

that's a better idea. that kind of mother has really gone nuts. and the authorities are more dumber than her. why didn't some authorities search her and confine her to a place suited for her likes? omg. it's really horrible and the children are in a pitiable situation.
