I celebrate my kids' birthdays but to me my birthday is just another day. And I'm just another year older.

I agree with your comment. I don't have anything special on my day. No-one remembers and no-one makes a fuss,so I have stopped aswell. But, now with my kids, I make it a day for them to remember. They are special and will have all that I never had.

I still celebrate, but I go out with my friends. Like my last birthday we hung out at a local bar and I had to complete a kind of scavenger hunt my friend made up.

it wasnt like a hunt but things I had to do...
Get my picture with a guy with a beard (dude had a ZZ Top beard)
Sing A duet
Kiss a stranger
Tell a Stranger he's hot
Stand on the table
Dance
take at least 1 shot
swap clothes...
I can't think of the rest...

I do, I'd never not celebrate it. I usually celebrate it with my family, all being together. I love it.

It'll happen! Before my nephew was born about seven years ago now there wasn't really a party (more of a tea party :P) so it really began for their sake, we had a tea party for each person birthday, but I think if it as taken away I'd object!

It always take the younger one to revive the trend to celebrate birthdays.. can tell that your family are very closely knitted =)

It's always nice to have family get togethers.. though we do not really celebrate our birthdays anymore, we do try and go out for dinners together as a family.. i think when my little niece comes along, then we'll probably start celebrating her birthdays =)

Yes I still celebrate birthdays because I never know how many more I will have. :)
Now sometimes I celebrate by myself because my husband has forgotten it and our son hasn't been around to remind him. This year will probably be one of those years in fact as our son will not be able to contact anyone to give him a reminder.
Generally though we have a meal, prepared by either my husband or son, and just relax.

Wow.. sounds like a really cosy way to celebrate birthdays.. i like your thinking.. we really don't know how many more birthdays we have.. it's good to treasure each and everyone of it! =)

You know, as strange as it sounds, I don't like birthdays. I dont want people to bother buying presents and all. I am contented with being one or two close friends. too many people and I have to entertain everyone and it goes get very tiring and there is never enough attention for anyone that i would like to give.
these people expect the birthday boy to throw a party or treat the rest to a meal!! Gosh!

Haha.. for me, it's about being another year older.. hopefully wiser too.. but over the years i also keep birthdays to an affair with just family and close friends... for those who bothers to remember, i'm happy.. even a simple sms greeting from them..
Now that you mentioned, i remembered that when i used to organise my own birthday parties, everyone else seem to be enjoying themselves more than me! Cos i'm just sooooo tired aft all the preparation work to really enjoy the fruits of my labour! =P

Yeah, that's why i stopped organising my own birthday parties.. i think also as i get older, i get less sociable as well.. i no longer feel the need to have mass crowds coming together, rather i would meet up with different friends at different times to have a meal and catch up.. this to me, builds a more intimate friendship =)

yeh and i wonder whats the whole point when the bday person should be taking it easy instead of being like an event organiser!
besides there is a birthday every year! LOL
celebrating the milestones makes more sense. and of course to me there are loads of other occasions worth celebrating more..
