"The worst time to drive is between midnight and 3am. You're 13 times more likely to have a fatal car accident than between 6am and 6pm. Most dangerous hour: From 2am to 3pm on Sunday morning (after the bars close) -- your chance of a fatal accident then is 22 times highe. " Source of information by Sherman Stein.
Are you surprised by this information or is that what you would expect? I am not surprised since at that time of the night is when people are leaving the bars and that is when people are drinking and driving the most. I am a bit surprised how high of a risk but I feel that people should not be driving around that late, especially after drinking.

Oh don't worry about me, I don't get to drive. I don't have a car. If I did, I don't drive much during those hours anyway, unless I'm out drinking.
Just kidding I learned long ago not to drink and drive.

The most dangerous times to be driving are sunrise and sunset because of our body clocks. Of course if people are out drinking and partying till the early hours of the morning, then some of them will have accidents. If anyone has been drinking, then they should not be driving irrespective of the hour of the day or night.

i really think its dangerous around 4pm-6pm weekdays because of all the traffic people are getting off work and all tired and there is alot of road rage.

12am-6am.
I remember seeing on Dateline how driving tired can be just as DANGEROUS as driving drunk.
Anyone who's drivin a car can agree to this, lol.
Be careful this New Year's!

The fact that statistics show 22 times as many fatal accidents at a specific time of day does not mean that your chance of a fatal accident is greater. I personally consider statistics to be the most unreliable source of information available.
If you check the names of all people murdered over the past 5 years and compare the number of victims whose name began with a consonant with those whose name began with a vowel, then statistics will show whether naming your child Eric or David will increase the chance of them being murdered. We all know that this would be false, but we tend to accept other statistics if they fit the scenario.
The increase of accidents due to drinkers at a time of day reflects the bad drivers around at the time, but does not affect the responsible drivers as much.

I don't agree with those results.Because I think the accidents which takes place are either due to negligence from the drivers part or due to any mechanical failure in the vechile.
Most fo the accidents are due to the first result..And that depends on the state of mind of the driver of that instant, his physical condition, mental condition..etc.
I think there is no particular time in a day that you are safe from any accidents..every instance we can get ourself in trouble , so it is the responsibilty from our side what precautions we take..

Hey buddy, actually how can u think that the specific time u r driving might lead us to accident or dangerous ,u r completely wrong if the time u r specifying is dangerous then obviously all with go with the other time which is safe ...
So there is nothing called dangerous time ,time doesnt depend on the accidents ,it depends on the traffic and the persons capability of driving ...............

This information did not come from me but from the author that I mentioned in the discussion. In my opinion he is right in some ways but wrong in other ways. Late at night and very early morning hours people are either driving drunk from coming home from bars or clubs or they are driving while very tired from being out late. There are risks no matter what time of the day but you find most drunk drivers late at night or in the early morning hours.

It is a fact that the most dangerous time to be on the roads is during the early hours of teh morning from around midnightto 4am approximately. People are drunk leaving the bars and are driving. The highest proportion of raod deaths in Europe occurs at this time.

In a city with heavy traffic and speeding vehicles and bumpy roads..every time you drive you are more likely to meet and accident than in an ordinary city...but i agree otherwise, the most dangerous time is midnight to 3am..else after drinking..
