What to do with people who hurt animals? Should there by law to punish them?

how i wish there could be law here that would punish people who hurt or kill animals yes especially to those cats and dogs who are just around the streets they catch them and kill them some people slay dogs to eat.here in our place they catch dogs who are in the streets put in them in the cage when theres somebody who will be looking for there lost dog and you will get your dog you should pay 450 inorder to get your dog or else they well just kill it. is that ok that we should pay that certain amount inorder to get our dog?

Yes, I think people that hurt animals should be punished. I go uot of my way to not hurt any animals. I cried one day when i accidentally hit a turtle. I was just learning how to drive & tried to miss it & hit it instead. :(

I hate people who hurt animals or kill them. I am an animal lover and never like to hear or see an animal get killed or hurt by negligence of a human. It is very sad to me. There are laws that prohibit people from hurting their animals or other animals and I feel they should be punished the same way as if they hurt another human. These people are animals and deserve to be locked up for life. We have the SPCA here and the Humane Society. I think there may be a couple others here as well.

Yes, there should be a law to punish these people. In most countries they already exist, it is forbidden to torture an animal. Can´t help you with the organizations addresses though, as I live in Europe and they won´t be useful for you.

There is a law in the United States, but a lot of times, it goes unpunished. I think it's really wrong to hurt animals.

yes it should be against the law because if i seen someone hurt mydog on purpose i would probably beat them

Here in Australia there are laws to protect animals from being mistreated. You can report people who do this to the RSPCA (Royal Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) who will investigate and prosecute the offenders. One of the problems though is that the person who advised the RSPCA also has to give their details, which many people are reluctant to do for fear of reprisals if the information becomes known. With regard to people deliberately run over animals, they actually have to be caught so they can be charged with an offence. Also sometimes it might seem that an animal has been deliberately hit but it could also be an accident. We do a lot of driving here in Australia, and have hit an animal more than once, simply by accident because the animal has run or jumped in front of our vehicle. We don't like it happening either but it does happen and we always stop to see if the animal has been injured or killed or whatever.

If anyone does that in our city they go to jail, for animal cruelity. that's a shame people shouldn't do this. that's terrible I don't like pets but I can't stand to see anything happen to them.

there is a law to punish such ppl its only that there should be more ppl like u and me who care for these creatures who cant speak but have a diff language to say what they want..... there are laws where in u can take the offender to the police station.... and hand him over stating what crime he has done.....

I think that there should absoulity be a law to punsih people that hurt animals but it seems that nobody id pressing that issue. I think if more of us voice our opinon then something will be done!

The whole problem is the only persons whom we can change is ourselves. Even punishment will not deter persons from hurting animals. At times I have stopped children throwing stones at dogs or buffalo and cows, but what to do with adults that is really a problem.

Yes there should be a Law and here in the UK there are Laws for that The only thing they are not strong enough Laws I think it should even go as far as Prison Sentence for something like that

There is legal punishment for animal abusers. it is a crime. there is like three or four shows about animal rights cops on animal planet and all they do is arest the people who abuse animals and they also help the animals.

i think more than punishing him legally we must do to him watever he did to the animal....i mean if he throws a stone on a dog the ppl who r concerned should throw stones on him...this is the best way to make him realise his mistake

In the USA we have an organization called the ASPCA I forget the exact meaning for the letters but I do know that they have special trained animal police officers to take care of the animal abusers. Especially when it is happening in a home. They are wonderfull loving people who take animals to a vet and get them taken care of then the animals go to a shelter to either live out there lives happy or adopted to really good homes.

Here in the US there are laws against animal cruelty. If you know your neighbor isn't feeding there dog and the dog even looks bad from lack of food then you can as well. I don't understand why anyone would want to be cruel to animals in the first place do you?

YES, omg i'm a dog owner and if anyone was to hurt my baby i would beat them. animals are like humans and should be treated like one. how can people make that poor animal strave, out in the rain , cold , heat. or beat them so bad. they're like children, helpless little things who can't defend themselves. if anyone has an urge to beat a human or animal so bad should seek help.

this is the resposibility of municipality to avoid toprotect them
