uhm... i don't have asthma but my girlfriend does. and i've been with her (a lot of times) when she has an attack. first off is the triggering of allergic reactions. this is usually manifested by the inflammation of the windpipe which causes the difficulty in breathing. she told me that the problem during an attack is not to breathe in but to exhale the content of the lungs... well, it is as if she's "drowning" of too much air in her lungs. on worse conditions (with extreme heat), she collapses.

Hello there! I for one have asthma which I just recently acquired due to worsening air pollution especially vehicle smoke. Everytime I get asthma attacks, the usual symptoms would be chest tightening or constriction, shortness of breath as if you are running out of air, and fast-paced breathing. I also notice that I produce wheezing sound everytime I inhale. Normally, if left unmedicated, it lasts for 2-3 days. I believe mine is a minor one because luckily i don't need inhaler, although I do take salbutamol in small dose as needed. The best method of treating asthma is still prevention. Stay away from triggering allergens as much as possible.
