ok ladies, here's the deal. i got a spiral perm once for my hair, and it looked great (for two weeks). it only lasted for two weeks. when i got my per i told the stylest that my hair has never been able to hold a curl, so she said, "no problem i will just put an extra finishing solution in it" which she did. again it only lasted two weeks. well i am gettign another perm today. i want the spiral so i can just put gel in it and go. i dont want to spend very long every morning doing my hair. so my question is, what do i need to do so my perm lasts more than two weeks? my hair is thin, and very fine. i need some advice, please help my perm last longer.

maybe your hair wont accept any chemicals. i have this friend who tries to curl her hair ans it lasted only for one week..then she tries again but it keep on coming back. they said that her hair is really straight and wont absorb any chimicals that will curl her hair. but i think you got already lots of advice her of how to correct that. im palnning too to make my hair curl.

I had a perm go flat on me once in about the same time! I did not know better, so I got one more and next thing I knew my hair was breaking at the root, I had like a tiny mohawk right at my middle partition!! Luckily I was able to use some clips here and there to conceal it, but it would pop out now and then (embarassing moment!!) perms are not the best thing in the world. Each time I line up for one, I spend months and months henceforth, undoing the damage to my hair, but I LOVE THEM!! The first thing to keep a perm is not to shampoo immediately after removing the rollers. Only wash off with warm water, and shampoo the next day. Use curl activators, that really helps. I tried the one from L'Oreal and it kept my curls real tight. Have regular trims as soon as you see the ends straightening off, keeps the overall perm looking real tight, but be prepared to find you hair really short once your perm wears off (with all the trimming) Use conditioner often, also indulge in deep conditioning as perms really really dry out your hair. Good luck!!

i hope you are not going back to the same person because first of all you should not be getting another perm in a matter of 2 weeks it will damage your hair really bad. they need to use the right kind spiral should last longer them just a normal per. good luck.

I would have it set tighter and like some others have suggested, I'd buy some styling products that can help hold the curl. My caution is that getting too many perms can be damaging to your hair if it is already on the thin side-make sure that you buy some good conditioner for aftercare

I love tight spiral perms. I have long hair so it always costs me an arm and a leg---but I have had a perm lat over 2 years once. I am ready to get another perm and I always recommend tight, spiral perms. It takes the stylist 2 hours (sometimes longer) just to get the rollers in my hair. I always have to make sure I have no other plans for the day when I make an appointment to get a perm. I would love to see a pic of it when you get it done.

I have natural spiral curls so have never had a perm obviously but I can advise you how to look after them when you have them because even though my curls are natural they can still drop if I don't treat my hair right! Firstly use shampoo/conditioner and styling products specifically to boost curls - not sure if you can get these where you are but Umberto Giannini curl booster is good as is John Frieda's range. After you have washed your hair never rub your hair with a towel to dry it - ideally leave it to "drip dry" but if you must then squeeze excess water out. Only use light serums and styling products as anything too heavy weighs the curl down. Most important of all avoid touching your hair as much as possible! Combing and running your fingers through it will all reduce the curl although running your fingers through it is preferable to using a comb because you can shape it at the same time. Never use a brush! If you can't leave your hair to dry naturally then always use a diffuser attachment on your hairdryer because it avoids moving your hair about too much.

If you are planning to get it done at a salon you have no worries, they'll know what to use. If you are planning on using a store perm, you'll probably end up w/ alot of frizz. Store perms are very hard and damaging. Also, do you have color or any other chemicals on your hair? If so the perm will not turn out as curly. When you put a perm over color it usually turns out uneven, you'll have some sections that will be flat, some wavy and many frizzy.

perms - Perm rods of different sizes. The smaller the perm rod the tighter the curl
For one thing they need to use a perm designed for fine hair. I would use a smaller perm rod. It will look tight for a week or two but them it will gradually be the way you like it. It your stylist is using the wrong perm it won't stay in your hair. Are you on any kind of medication because that could affect your hair to. Does your stylist use a clarifing shampoo when she washes your hair?. It will also help if your stylist has soft water. I have been doing hair for over 12 years now and I have never had a perm last only two weeks. Spirals should last for atleast 3 months if not longer.

chapinha - chapinha
I do not know as vocês they nominate there in U.S.A., but in Brazil we call "chapinha here". If you use it with the hair rolled in its finger and will be passing until the end, you will go to obiter the cacheado hair as you desire, and if to want uses it smooth, is enough to use "chapinha" with the normal hair.

Ask the person who perms your hair. Now for me I have naturaly curly hair. I just squeeze my hair together with some gel and go. But I also have thick hair and I think that is the key here. Maybe they can suggest something for making your hair thicker. Also try having it cut in layers that would help. Good Luck

I don't know why. I have pretty much the same problem. I can never get a perm to hold for more than a couple weeks. I finally gave up about 4 years ago when the last one didn't hold. I just decided that it was easier to deal with my straight ahir than to go through all the fuss.

Using shampoos and conditioners that are for curly can help. The perm should realy stay in until it grows out.I can only assume first time it wasnt done properly first .Im sure having it done a second time it will last for you.Good luck

well first off, I wouldnt have anyone else do it for you..what you need to do is call the Salon and you tell them that the perm is out..it os there obligation to fix it and give you another one free..but its only been 2 weeks..if u have fine.think hair you hair will start to fall out from too much harsh chemicals in your hair..i know i have fine/think hair as well..they screwed up..or u can try tp get your money back if u dont want them touching it again..persoanlly i would make them fix it..and theer are tons of gels and mouses to choose from all you have to do is look for your hair type, and they have some made for perms,,Aussie procducts is what I use..and they have great products to make your hair curly and healthy,,good luck!

My sister got her hair permed at KAya clinic and her perm lasted for more than three months. I am not aware of the solutions mname but there is a permanent solution available for keeping perms for long. She said then it could last for six months too. May be with different kind of perming style its used. You can ask your hair stylist for that.
