Do you read all the answers when starting a discussion?

I find it hard following pages and pages of answers to one discussion, so therefore when I see a discussion that has so many pages I dont even answer it (Im talking about discussion that are not mine). What is the use of me answering a discussion that nobody will read because its on the last page? My chances of getting chosen as the best answer is probably zero. Does anyone agree with this philosophy? I know that you still get paid by Mylot but to me its more important that peope read my view than getting paid, although getting paid is nice, but thats not the whole reason why Im here. What do you think?

Your opinion was stated very well. I do find that I read most if not all of the comments on a discussion, unless it just ends up being a bunch of nonsense, or bickering, then I won't read or respond. I do respond to them, if I have something to add to the discussion. Often times, what I wanted to say has already been said, so I don't reply. It is interesting to me to read what others' opinions and responses are. We have a very diverse group here on myLot and there is much that can be learned by reading the responses of others. I'm not here really for the money, I enjoy the discussions and the people. Happy New Year to you and yours.

Hi..thanks for your response, but I was asking if you read all the answers to a discussion that you want to answer to, not the one you start. I read all the answers to a discussion I started as well.

Yes its not easy following any discussion you have started or replied to. It gets a bit too long and you have to search for your own responses, but it all adds to the fun.

I agree with you. I spend a lot of time on the "discussions with no response" part of the site, because that's where I've found many of the more interesting posts. And ususally people will write you back. There's some post on here about addictions that has a few thousand replies -- I'm not going to add to that. I mean, what else is there to be said? As far as the money, I could probably make more money faster wandering around a parking lot looking for change.

The parking lot comment put an immediate smile on my face. I'm more interested in this site as a way of speed thinking. Obviously I just started but have already skimmed and engaged in many different lines of thought that I find interesting.

Speed thinking. I like that. That's exactly what it is. That's why i get upset with the spammers, because it slows me down. Thanks for the comments!

Thank you! I totally agree with this. I am one who answers only to new discussions. Why add to something that somebody else has said? Thanks for your responses...

I do not read all response of a discussion even do not interested to respond which got huge response. I response my friends discussuin first and then interesting and easy one and mostfly from new didcussion and discussion with no response.

I'm with you. If there are way too many pages I will read the first few and then answer. But, most times I try to avoid the really long answers because my opinion won't be heard.

Thank you for posting a great topic... I read everything once I open a discussion and I also rate everyone as well. I am a speed reader so pages upon pages do not take too much time for me to go through. When I post a discussion, I usually wait a few days before I decide on a best response, unless the post is absolutely amazing and I did award one best response only after 24 hours of posting a topic. I too am not here for the pennies a day, but to meet new people and have a decent conversation and maybe a little ranting and raving from time to time ;-)

I would love to if anyone responded to my discussions. Seems most users in myLot are far from interested in the discussions I started. Or they just want to post to make money, not to discuss.

Right...apparently there is a group of us who like our opinions to be heard and so we opt to answer discussions within the first two pages so that our opinions are heard. Thanks for your comment!

I read everything before I respond but sometimes I don't respond if the discussion is really long. If I don't feel like reading it then there is no point in responding becasue I don't know what I am responding to.

I agree with you. I dont respond either if the discussion is really long. Nobody will read it anyway, so what is the point?

I kind of skim over the answers other people have given. If it is subject that I am interested in, and I don't see a response that mirrors my opinion, i do like to respond and leave my 2 cents.

Yes, but what if the responses go on for pages and pages? You dont know if your response has been already been given unless you read them all. That is why I avoid long discussions. I usually just go for the NEW DISCUSSION groups and that way I know that my answer will be at least in the first page or so. Thanks for your comment :)

It is very difficult to read all the posts within a discussion. I mean , a big discussion. I don't read all the posts. I read only the last page and then post my opinion.

1 - discussions can go on forever if they are good ones and well rooted like a plant pr rose
Depends on the topic if I do or don't. Sometimes I find it very interesting and as I read will add a comment here and there in the discussion. But lordy when there are tons of pages because it has been there awhile ummm will read some and then maybe post or just move on.

I read them all when I start a discussion. I have it to where they e-mail me when I get a response. Why start one if you're not going to read the responses?

I don't agree with you. I know many many here on My Lot who go thru and read each and every response. As for me, whenever my discussions get more than 100 responses, i go thru and reply to all i like. i just skip 1 or 2 liners..apart from that i read and rate all. I choose best response after few days (Sometimes earlier or much later depending on no of responses i have).
