I know that for a fact. But here in our country the corruption is really so bad that nine out of ten politicians are guilty of it. This is so sad. They run for the office not for the country but for the money. This is a fact that we face.

I'm pretty sure that the definition of politics is corruption. It doesn't matter what country you're in you will have people who abuse the power that they are given. This is certainly true in the United States no matter if you are a Democrat, Republican or Independent.

I never knew that it was the same in the US. For us here we only have two, the opposition and the pro government. Both are corrupt.

I believe there is a bit of corruption in every Government, some a lot more than others, some are very good at hiding it and some are so stupid about it, it is ashame we can't have honesty there.

Well here in our country, they even don't have to hide it because everybody knows its happening. It becomes as if it was normal.

Not a lot of corruption, just a lot of lying and doing things illegal. Our old president was caught cheating on his wife and one senater was caught with pornagraphy on his computer. Just can't trust them anymore

You know what, those are nothing compared to the scams our congressmen are guilty of. They amass millions of money in their banks. Some of them even have offshore banks to hide their money.

Without corruption, we would definitely move forward. Can you imagine we would be maximizing the whole budget of the government for the development of the country. The pork barrel of our statesmen would be put into good use without the 50-60% sop/bribe.

No matter which country you travel to, you're bound to find some level of corruption. Have you ever heard the the phrase, "Absolute power corrupts absolutely" ?
Well it's true. Whenever any kind of power like that is available the temptation to abuse it is often hard for some people to pass up. In Canada it is not THAT bad at all but it is still prevelant. The US is probably one of the worst, but I don't know much about politics at all or anything about politics abroad.

Well I haven't seen the corruption in other countries. But I don't think it comes close to what we have here.

Well its really a fact that we have to face. I do hope that when they do this, they would not be so greedy as to always think of themselves. They should try to give back and do some service to their constituents.

I believe corruption goes hand in hand with the politics alot. So, I'll say yes, there is a possibility that it may be the case here in the USA.

Yes, in our country there is corruption in politics, and in probably every facet of life. Here in illinois, there is big time corruption I feel, but of course, everyone denies it. We have had one governor on trial, and another supposedly going to be under fire. It's terrible, where did the honesty go?

I really do hope that it would be lessened. They should sometimes think of other people before themselves. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.

I believe that corruption does exist in almost all countries.. only that it varies in its degree. I've had worked together with people of other races.. even with those coming from well developed countries - countries we are looking up to... and even them admit that they aren't spared from this problem.
i don't want to single out here that the Philippines is the only country with corruption as a major problem coz i guess others may be far worse than ours. It's only a question of what have we done to counter it?

There is really not much that we can do about it. Maybe the next time we vote, we should pick the lesser evil.

In our country corruption is what the government is. They come to power to uphold corruption. Politics is a gold mine here. They will deceive, resort to thuggery or even kill just to come to power. By the way my country is Sri Lanka. A third world country.

Corruption is a recurring problem in the U.S. Sometimes it's outright payments to politicians, but usually it's something more subtle, like companies contributing money to politicians--legally--to attempt to buy influence for some kind of project or legislation.

I have never been a fan of politics; not here, not anywhere. When it comes to politics, corruption is found. Where I am from, it occurs because changes are promised and never made. It seems as if politicians fight more to get into office than for making the lives of the people easier to live.
