should we americans keep dying for Iraqi's?? how long?

They need to either stop fighting with each other or we should leave sooner or later, why should our soldiers continue this if the average Iraq citizen doesnt learn to live together? Whether you agree or not with the invasion, these people now have a choice to control their own destiny. They have been given a once in a generation chance to have some sort of consensual government... without some hitler type tyrant like saddam running the counntry (for personal gain). Not time to leave yet, but how long can we give blood and money to people that have no ability to tolerate people from their own religion, race, culture and country!!!

I wonder if the French and the Netherlands had similar comments when they sent their soldiers to help America win it's independence from England? Especially when we fought amongst ourselves for years while we tried to develop a government that worked and ended up fighting a bloody civil war less than a century later. Democracy isn't easy. But, long-term it will benefit Iraq and the United States.

Americans are dying to protect our country. Although the battle is not occuring on our soil, it is to defend our nation from the Muslims who want the infidels killed.

Perhaps the infidels should change their greedy ways, and learn to respect all users who share the planet and its resources. Any view of superiority is a myth waiting to be exposed by global warming.

i think that we should take the troops out of iraq because it is useless having people dying and no progress is being made i think that americans should use their soldiers for other things

I can't see a solution! This is the worse affair that I ever seen made by a democratic state as the USA are. I was against the initial invasion but naw I can't see if is better to stay or to leave.

Yes, I've found other posts where Morelo has copied other's posts word for word. Don't worry, reports have been made to MyLot about it since that is a flagrant violation of the rules.

First, the American people need to acknowlege that the initial invasion was all about oil, precipitated by George Bushs' frustration that Saddam Hussein had thwarted every move that Bush made to try to provoke Saddam, or get a UN resolution authorising military action. This was the enduring mistake. The "sexed up" lies about WMD's, should be a matter for justice, both for Bush and Blair. That so much effort has been applied to the situation in Iraq is irrelevant. The US removed Saddam without a plan for restoration of infrastructrure or security. All they can hope for now, is to impose a peace, untill such time as the sharing of oil amongst the Iraqui tribes is settled one way or another. Common sense will not prevail. Bloodshed will decide who gets the lions' share of the oil. It will not be USA, so they may as well just pack up and let the tribes fight for their own spoils of war. Patching holes with the lives of fine men and women, is no way to run a campaign. Let the disaster unfold without Western interfereance, as it surely will anyway. Dafur,Sudan,Zimbabwe,Nigeria and other areas all deserve long overdue, humanitarian peace-keeping forces. Why just "care" for Iraq? The fact that the U.S. economy is propped up by the war efforts is not insignificant.

Oil can be used against an enemy, through the use of unlimited petro-dollars.... not just by holding back the supply. (as saddam was doing by paying off the UN)...To ignore this from an agressive foe is silly. so when you say it is about oil. you are correct, it is about buying terrorism with oil... you are forgetting that saddam broke his contract/agreements he made to stay in power from the last war, mostly during the late 90's.... in actual fact, we were still fighting him in the no-fly zones during that time also. Lets not forget saddam did need to be "provoked". In retrospect Iraq was going to fall apart sooner or later due to this hitler-istic regime that was there. Lets also not forget that saddam had the UN paid off with "oil for food" program"... thats significant, thats why the UN did not want to impose any punishment. I salute both Bush and Blair for having politcal balls to go forward. yes we are in a pinch, but nobody said it would be easy, and who you rather run Iraq? the people? or....?

i meant to say saddam did NOT need to be provoked, he had already broke his peace agreement many times. The legality of the war is not in question. WMD's was just one reason out of 23 reasons for the invasion. as a matter of a fact neither is the morality of this war, if you look into the history of saddam's regime. By the way we are the "peace-keeping force" there at the moment.. the tribes are fighting for the lion's share as we speak, hopefully we stay on a side that is democracy friendly. those other areas you mentioned need interference so i suggest keeping in mind that the UN is impotent. If we had invaded Dafur, you would have said what about Nigeria? if we had invaded Nigeria you would have said what about Zimbabwe? If we bomb Iran, you will say what about N Korea?... we cant do EVERYTHING. Lets face it, you just are not happy with a Bush or Blair around, even though they were protecting your interests.

From everything I have read, the Iraqee people or not fighting hard enough to stabilize their country. I think they should start take the lead and handle their own affair. I think there should be some plan for the troops to start moving out in 2007.

well I still don't see the point of them initially going there, however I don't think its a god idea to pull those poor troops out. Right now there needs to be some order because now the same thing is going on that the previous regime was oppressing the people with and that is the well known abue that the iraqi people have been recieving...and now from the troops. This is what the media doesnt want you to know, but family of troops LIKE MYSELF (yes Im a muslim with a brother who is american and muslim over there) know the down low and that is the troops are becoming frustrated and taking it out on those iraqi people. There is just no order over there and it needs to be because its costing valuable lives, iraqi and american. And I am frustrated ecause we have so many issues here yet we are all the way in iraq minding their business!

but if we pull out, then a bunch of mafia, gang type thugs and religious pretenders will take over... same as before with saddam. Then they will also massacre the people that wanted to vote and live in justice. Cant leave now. There are 600 billion barrels of oil under Iraq, if a new hitler-style regime takes its place, just think how much money they can pass to terrorists? to harass their nieghbors like they did before? and harass oil transports in the gulf... we cannot leave yet.

I believe that it was anouther viet nam war, we really didn't need to do, too many deaths on both sides, but we should help rebuild before we pull out, also put yourself in the iraqi's shoes, would u like anouther country to come and attack on our presidant and kill people and bomb us? no, we didn't like it when we got bombed. 2 wrongs don't make a right.

its not about right or wrong, its about doing what needs to be done.... and yes if saddam was running america, i would be glad to have outside help to remove him, like we do with common criminals everyday.

The situation in Iraq is crazy. How do you change a culture who are taught as youths to sacrifice their life in the name of Allah to blow themsellves up and others in the name of religion. They are not taught religion, they are taught propaganda.

Very tough question. In my opinion, these would never end and will get worser and worser as time passes by until no another country would came to take the lead to let american and iraq at peace.

they should stop it and let iraqi government handle it themselves. so they'll be independent on americans once more.

Sadly, the problem with what you said, there is no real "Iraqi government" just yet.... and there was not one before the Americans either. Just a crime family run by saddam and sons. Lets not forget some of the horrid things he did (and so did his sons)

No americans should not die for them any longer. They need to step up and die for themselves. My fiance is over there right now and I dont want him to lose his life over something as meaningless as this crap over in iraq. If these people are not willing to grow up and defend themselves why should we do it for them. Bring my fiance home to America where he belongs

Hey guys, you are not dying for Iraquis, you are dying to protect the world from the tyrany of terrorisme... not the same thing... Thanks to all of you, your boys out there, for giving us this hope, and if only the US was less influenced by Europe, this war would be finished long ago. That's what I think.
