LAST month my friend gave birth to a baby girl and she also had one girl as her first child.Though i know that everybody in our society wishes for son but is it right to cry and not celebrating when u have a child. Why we only celebrate when we have boy why not make celebrations on girl birth also.I couldn't go there again i felt so sick and disgusted.
What do you say about it......

I would have felt sick too...but it is already so hard to be a woman, that somehow this attitude doesn't surprise me. I've seen a lot of men saying only nasty things about we women, and a lot of discrimination around...If these people were only aware that God created us as equal, their beliefs would be different...I'm afraid that this newly-born girl will be brought up with the same "women-are-trash" idea in her mind, and there will be a lot of suffrering for her too. If you want to do something, you might try to talk with the mother of this child and convince her that, first, EVERY BABY IS A BLESSING, and that women are really valuable, important, intelligent, etc. You need to be very brave and persistent, because she was probably brain-washed, but you might get good results if you're patient enough. If you think this task is too much for you, I suggest you simply keep away from these people. Whatever your decision is, I wish you good luck!

No obviously. The poor society members do not understand the simplest truth of the nature. If girls are not there, wherefrom will boys come in the next generation?
The mother of the girl child should be proud of creating the avenue for perpetuation of the human race.

I was overjoyed over having my son & may daughter. The only part of my daughters birth that made me sad was that she wasn't well enough to come home. She had to go immediately into surgery to save her life. I LOVE her, but I don't like the fact she has had to live in a hospital for 4 1/2 months now (since she was born). As a mother you are taught to care for your children, & when your baby requires surgery Mommy's hugs & kisses can't fix everything & your left with a feeling of not beiong the best mom b/c you can't fix everything for your baby.

I have 3 boys. to be honest, I did wish for a girl after my first son was born but God decided to give me a boy, whom I love just as much.
Then the 3rd pregnancy I just knew it was a girl! nope, it was a boy. and now that he is here, what would I do without him? he is my everything, they all mean so much to me, I would go crazy without them. each is so special in their own way. I still would love to have a girl and if I do ever have any children again, I will love that child no matter what..whether it is a boy or a girl who cares! they are precious no matter what gender the are.

Maybe, it depends upon parents. I gave birth to a baby boy last 5 months ago and I love him so much, eventhough I'm wishing a girl when I'm still preggy so that we can both share our interests in the future, I wanted to become a good mom to her, but, God gave me a boy and I love him the same how I want the girl... unlike my mother, she really hates girl and wanted boy, which made her happy when I gave birth to a boy... we might have different reasons why somebody becomes bias against gender.

U should not feel disgusting but U should advice ur friend that now there is no place where girls are in the next step to a guy.
He should celebrate his/her baby's birthday and motivate others also...

It is really unfair to think in this angle. Because, the child which born to you either male or female it is being delevered by you after taking possession in your womb for a period of 10 months and that child is being accepted by you as per your choice . as such why are u seeing the society. who is society . are they going to take care of your children . no not at all. do not believe the society ./ It is your and your husban's pure love and affection which is required for the baby at all times. happily grow the childrens and enjoy the life. welcome the new incumbant . and be happy

Wow, where do you live? I can't believe someone would do that. That is really awful. I haven't had a child yet, but I can't imagine not celebrating my childs birth! I really don't care wether I have a boy or a girl, but I want at least one of each and will not stop till I get it! lol I love little ones.. they are so precious.

I understand in your culture you want and even need a son.(My culture doesn't care what you get)But I think you are right to have left.I would have done the same thing. The birth of a child is an amazing experience and something to be celebrated, whether the child is a boy or girl.I don't think it should matter what culture you come from, what continent you live on,or what God you worship.Maybe your friend will get over her dissapointment and realize what a beautiful child she has.I hope so for everyone's sake.

i love babies --- girl or boy, it doesn't matter what the gender is, really.
i feel sorry for the baby girl. i really hope the mother comes to terms with this reality and accepts the baby as a precious gift, nevertheless. and i definitely hope the baby doesn't grow up feeling unwanted and uncared for.

I cannot understand why they did this! I don't understand the difference between a girl and a boy. Is this a tradition in your friends country? Because there aren't reasons to celebrate the birth of a male and do not celebrate the birth of female! It sounds really strange and unfair to me.
