quake shakes up the net

The earthquake that strucks the sounthern of Taiwan has disrupted Malaysia internet users to access the net.
How about other countries users?

hi i come from INDONESIA, last day desember 26 all internet USER on indonesia panic coz all day cant access internet.
yes earthquake damage internet optik cable on the sea taiwan.
i using GPRS/WAP to try get in mylot, but ver slow sometimes never work.
perhaps will online soon again.

The taiwanese said that it will takes one to three weeks to make things back to normal.

I hadn't heard anything about this until I read your post. I don't guess I was home in time to hear any news tonight. I just went and looked on the news site through yahoo...wow! it was a big earthquake! It said it damaged phone lines to China, Japan and the US, but the US ones are mostly restored now. @ residents were killed and more than 40 injured. Up to a dozen cables that carry traffic between China, Japan, Korea, southeast Asia the US and Taiwan were damaged and could take 2-3 weeks to repair. Wow! Here is the article

Wow! Another news article from CNN news said that the quake has put Asia back to pre-internet days! Hope things return to normal quickly! Here's the link to that article

Thank you for your info. My ADSL supposed to get 1.5MBps download speed but now not more than 128kbps.
