Since as far back as I can remember, it was alsways traditional to take our Christmas tree down on the 6th January. This is called Little Christmas Day. It is so called because it was, until the adoption of the Gregorian calendar, the day on which Christmas Day was celebrated. It is also known as Nollaig na mBan (Women's Christmas), so called because of the tradition (still very strong in Cork, though only just surviving in the rest of the country) of Irish men taking on all the household duties on that day and giving their spouses a day off. Not a hope of that happening in my house, so I may take my tree down on Saturday after the new year begins.

We don't really have a set time either. Seems like right around the first or 2nd week in January, but then again it all depends on what's going on! lol

I normally tend to take my tree down the second week of January. I love Christmas and would keep all the decorations up as long as possible - if I could. This year I think I will be taking it down this wee due to all the commotion in my household. I am just so overwhelmed right now - that I need one less thing to do.

I will take our tree down on January 1st. There is no set time for us. Just whenever we have the time to do it.
