A Place To Escape

Do you have a place to escape to when it gets to much? Like when things get bad at home. For me the gym is my escape, it's my haven, its a place where I can get rid of the stress, lose the anger on the punch bag and release some much needed serotonin on the treadmill. It's a place where I find my inner peace and where no one can wind me up, nag me or get on my nerves. That gym is my saviour if I didn't have it I'd go mad!

Hi. I have 2 children with developmental delays. I'm a stay at home mom as well. I know parenting in itself is very demanding. But, these "disabilities" and what goes along with them can be really trying. I also have anxiety issues. So, usually about once a week or so, I go to the movie theatre to see a movie. Yes, I can lock myself in my room and watch TV while my husband plays with the children downstairs. However, if I'm home, he knows it and often feels the need to "disrupt" me for little problems. If I'm at a movie theatre, I can immerse myself in the movie and not need to worry about the phone ringing, or little household things that need to be taken care of.

Thank you. : )
My kids are really causing me anxiety today. I wish I could grab a movie tonight. But, it seems like I may need to go to Wal-mart instead. But, it's a great pass time, and not too much money, especially during the afternoon hours.

Yes I do .. I have a very special place I visit .. it is a peaceful and quiet place ... just the sound of water lapping onto the shore and the wind blowing rigging against masts ...
It is a place where I can reflect on life ... whilst enjoying the tranquility ... in the evening as the sun goes down slowly all the colour drains from the world .. bright colours become muted .. then turn into deep purples and greys .. before finally turning to shades of charcoal and then all is black as night ...
In the very early hours of morning I am woken by the birds feverishly searching for food ... as the sun rises colour floods back into the world .. all seemingly too bright to look at .. everything has been refreshed with the nights rest ... then the early morning anglers stomp by in their waist length waders ... outboard engines break the mornings silence ... and I go to the little cafe for a hearty breakfast
It's a beautiful place and I always come home feeling a sense of renewal ...

Well, don't think that I am nuts, but you asked and this is my answer. If I am stressed and need a place to escape, I go take a walk in the desert. There are no people, cars or homes around. I am all alone, except for the spirit of God. I chat with Him, and I feel all better.

My place I would always escape to would take place on an island, at night on the beach, crystal clear water, millions of stars in the sky or o a place full of puffy clouds and mist and am walking around looking at everything around me there is no one in sight just me and I sit down on one of the clouds and fall asleep sweet quietness.

I go to the beach. I love to sit and watch the sea coming in and out it reminds me life goes on no matter what happens, and i can sit and think while people watching, children are happerly playing, mums and dads relaxing.
It makes you think about life and then all your troubles dont seem so bad...

I do....I have my home "office". It's a bedroom turned into my own space. I can go in there and do anything I want from surfing the net to scrapbooking. Or if I don't want to do anything I can just sit and stare at the wall. ;) Only thing is if my husband isn't home my daughter would be banging on the door to get in. ;)

with three kids, a man, a cat, and live in sister i really don't have time to escape to a real place. so i escape in my books. i read alot. 4 or 5 books a month. but i am going to really make time for the gym. i would love to have a work out to fight away some of the stress of the day
