Have you contributed to any charities this year or will you in the next few months? Which ones and why? I am afraid I have become very skeptical about contributing as I have seen and heard a lot of problems that have arisen lately. Many of the clothing and other donations that poured into Arkansas to help the displaced from the Katrina hurricane never made it to them. It seems there was so much that no one had time to go through it and sort out what they needed and didn't need so much of it was thrown away. Makes you wonder about what is going on in other cases as well.

Oh I donate to many things like st,judes childrens hospital, the ronald mcdonald house,Susan g coman foundation, rescue mission. I also volunteer my time at local soup kitchens and I am a big sister. I go to the hospital and voulunteer in the neonatal unit. Giving is always better than receiving in my book and I love to do thoe things I do. I don't do it because I feel obligated I do it because it make me feel good.

Being a student, I don't have a lot of extra cash just laying around, but I do have abilities and talents and time to donate. I crochet hats, mittens and scarves all year round that I donate to various charities during the winter, and I also crochet caps and booties for the local children's hospital (for preemies). I volunteer for the Special Olympics as a figure skating coach, and I regularly gather clothing and toiletries and donate them to the local womens' shelter and mens' mission. There's a lot one can do to "donate" that doesn't necessarily involve money. Sometimes one can even "donate" by volunteering from home-my grandmother is involved with a group that makes daily phone calls to lonely/elderly people or "shut-ins" just to say hi and talk for a bit. It takes all of 15 minutes out of her day, but I bet it makes a world of difference to those who receive her calls.

we conduct outreach programs in our community. during the first quarter of the year, we would treat some kids to ice cream; then in the middle of the year, our focus is on the senior citizens. at christmastime, we gather 100 children and give them treats...
