It is more hype then anything about cats and dogs hating each other. I have dogs and my girlfriend has cats and they play together all the time. So they don't really hate each other people just think that for some reason.

It depends on whether or not the cats have been around dogs before, my cat helped raise my dog and they are friends but when I took in mom's cats they were uncomfortable with my dog and it's still taking time for them to like her, poor Ally has no idea why they don't like her.

Of course they can get along. It depends on the personalities of the individual animals. We have had several dogs and cats at the same time that got along. We also had a Siamese cat who chased away a German Shepherd when they didn't get along. Another Siamese cat we had, who had just given birth, allowed our new puppy to nurse right alongside her kittens.

I've raised cats and dogs together several times and I've had a cat raise a puppy and a dog raise a kitten, as you said it depends on their personalities.

Cats seem to be more territorial than dogs, I brought mom's old cats home with me after she passed and after 3 and a half years my own cat is still not happy with them being here. My dog is a little jealous but otherwise has no problem with them.

I have a dog and two cats. They don't hate each other one bit! Often times I will find them curled up together sleeping. Sometimes the one cat will play with the dog's tail, she doesn't seem to mind. She will still lay there but she'll move her tail and play along. I think it depends on how the were first introduced to each other. I've taken in new rescued kitties, and my dog has been here much longer. She always accepts the newcomers, as long as I do.

A kitten will bond with dogs if the dogs are friendly but older cats that have never been around dogs have a harder time adjusting to them.

Cats only hate dogs and dogs only hate cats because we teach this to them, normaly they don't mind about each other, and sometimes become friends...

If they're brought up together, they most likely will get on. My brother is having the difficulty of convincing a cat his new puppy is something he should love. ;) Not quite working.

cats hate dogs mostly because i think of the strong scent of dogs. and mostly dogs r bigger creatures than cats so cats can be afraid of them too

The key is raising a dog with cats from the very beginning. Make sure when you get a puppy that you have a cat or older kitten present to raise the puppy. They get along fine. I have a 85 lb. doberman that lives happily in a household with multiple cats with no problem.
