This is a poem written by a teenager with cancer. She wants to see how many people get her poem. It is quite the poem. Please pass it on. (Doctor's note at the end) This poem was written by a terminally ill young girl in a New York Hospital . It! was sent by a medical doctor - Make sure to read what is in the closing statement AFTER THE POEM. SLOW DANCE Have you ever watched kids On a merry-go-round? Or listened to the rain Slapping on the ground? Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight? Or gazed at the sun into the fading night? You better slow down. Don't dance so fast. Time is short. The music won't last. Do you run through each day On the fly? When you ask How are you? Do you hear the reply? When the day is done ! Do you lie in your bed With the next hundred chores Running through your head? You'd better slow down Don't dance so fast. Time is short. The music won't last. Ever told your child, We'll do it tomorrow? And in your haste, Not see his sorrow? Ever lost touch, Let a good friendship die Cause you never had time To call and say,"Hi" You'd better slow down. Don't dance so fast. Time is short. The music won't last. When you run so fast to get somewhere You miss half the fun of getting there. When you worry and hurry through your day, It is like an unopened gift.... Thrown away. Life is not a race. Do take it slower Hear the music Before the song is over. hi everyone .. my friend emailed me this ... what are your views on this .....

Even if the poem has been written by someone else, it does strike a chord and asks one to pause and think. In today's world, time is one thing that most of us feel is to little and hence miss out the beauty, the happenings around us, becasue miost of us are so focused on our own work, that we even start neglecting the very people we are putting in an effort for - our own near and dear ones, or we lose touch with the people who matter/ed to us. When we open our eyes one day, we find that these very people have turned into starngers and we are left with regrets of hving missed out a major porion of our lives and their lives too. Good of you to bring it to people's notice.

This poem has been circulating around the internet for quite a few years and pretty much it's regarded to be a hoax. There are so many "stories" or "poems" supposedly written by or about terminally ill children and I yet to find one that can be proven to be true. I don't want to dampen the message of this e-mail..that should be your main focus...but do be aware of the spam potential of these and how they can often have a finacial gain for the person who originated it and that none of that ever benefits any child. Not all will ask for a "donation" as most of the time that part has been deleted before forwarding it on.

hey shaeen, that's a truly inspirational poem. i just emailed it to all my friends, thanx for sharing it with us. i truly feel sorry for the little girl, and i pray there be some kind of a miracle, and she gets well. or atleast i pray that she doesn't have sufferings. it might seem irrelevant, but mind if i ask her age? she looks pretty mature from the way she has written this poem.... Don't dance so fast, time is short, the music won't last......it's beautifully written and soo meaningful, it touches ones soul

Nice poem. I agree to the view of the author of the poem. Take your time, live your life each day! you might missed half of your life for planning your future. Do what may come, and God knows where to take. His plans are best than our prayers, so just live life to the fullest and live eveything to God! We wouldn't know until when the song would last!
