People want to lose weight for many different reasons, be it to look better, feel healthier, or for more confidence. A good weight loss goal to set in the beginning is to lose 10 pounds. Losing 10 pounds is achievable for anyone who sets their mind to it, and the ideal way of losing weight is to make some small changes in diet and increase in exercise.
Some people follow a strict weight loss approach in the hopes of losing 10 pounds quickly. However, because these rule are so restrictive, they are probably going to be hard to stick to, and if you stray from the diet, those 10 pounds are probably going to come right back.
A better way to lose 10 pounds is to change your eating habits. Though this may take longer to lose weight, at least the weight loss is likely to be more permanent. When you take a closer look at your eating habits, you'll realize how often you snack out of habit and not out of hunger, for example when watching TV.
People also eat way too much. The body is slow in registering the "full" signal from the stomach, so the body only "feels" full 20 minutes after you actually are full. So try to listen to your body more closely, and stop eating when you start to feel slightly full. It also helps if you chew your food more slowly, as this will allow your body more time to receive the "full" signal from the stomach. It also helps to eat less fattening food and unhealthy food such as cream cheese or salted chips or chicken skin.
Another approach to weight loss is to make lifestyle changes that incorporate more activities into your day-to-day routine. This is an easier way to lose pounds and to keep them off. Take a look at your daily habits and see where you can make small changes to help you lose weight. One way to get started is to bike, instead of driving, to work. Biking to work will help burn a lot of calories in your body, plus you will be able to save money on gasoline and be environmentally friendly. Other changes you can make include going for a quick walk during your lunch break instead of sitting idle at your desk, and taking the stairs instead of the lift.
If you are the more active type, you could go hiking or swimming, something recreational and fun, yet geared towards helping you lose weight. It is so much easier to lose weight when you are doing something you enjoy.
Many find the diet changes or exercise regimens for quick weight loss unrealistic. By making small changes in your dietary and lifestyle habits you will find weight loss a breeze, plus you will easily keep the weight off.

I think setting a goal to lose 10 pounds sounds a lot more reasonable than saying "I want to lose 100 pounds". I think you're more likely to lose 100 pounds if you say you want to lose 10 pounds, you lose the 10 pounds and then say you want to lose another 10 pounds, etc, etc. I think if you use a big number and say you want to lose that much, then it's going to get overwhelming.

1. Drink water
Water is quite possibly the single most important catalyst in losing weight and keeping it off longer term.
Water acts as an appetite suppressant by keeping your stomach full and fending off dehydration which can lead to false cravings/hunger.
Water also helps your body metabolize stored fat by helping the kidneys flush out waste. When you don't drink enough water the liver which works to provide stored fat for energy helps the kidneys eliminate waste and becomes less effective at metabolizing fat.
Drinking water ice cold burns about 62 calories a day. Your body has to work to raise that waters temperature to your body's temperature. This equals around 430 calories per week.
2. Eat regularly
This means eating 5 times a day and the most important meal is breakfast.
Make sure you fuel your body first thing in the morning to avoid hunger pangs later in the day.
When you eat 5 times a day you will never feel hungry, make sure the total calories consumed are sensible and don't over eat in any of the meals learn portion size control!
3. Eat lots of fibre
Eating adequate fiber foods to help keep things moving through your bowel. And like water, fiber rich foods bulk you up and make you feel fuller for longer.
Fibre is found only in plant foods our bodies cant digest it to so it simply goes through the body. During the elimination process it cuts calories consumed by attaching to protein and fat that you eat along with it removes that as well
In addition, high fiber foods are typically low in calories and filling, so you are reducing your calorie intake overall.
Good fibre foods include: strawberries, apples, figs, chickpeas, potatoes, (with skins) broccoli, brown rice, beans, bran and nuts.
4. Consume more good fats
There are good fats and bad fats
Good fats provide you with essential fatty acids (linoleic and linolenic acids) needed for normal reproduction and growth, as well as for production of prostoglandin, a hormone like compound that regulates blood pressure, prevents blood clotting and lowers the risk of heart disease.
For example, the reason oily fish is a great food stems from the fact that the essential fatty acids which it contains can actually help your body burn fat more efficiently and protect against disease. Get at least three portions of oily fish a week with Salmon, mackerel, herrings and sardines being good choices. 5. Get plenty of quality protein
Quality protein is an effective weight control tool because of the satiety factor and its ability to keep you full for longer periods. It also balances out carbohydrates by preventing insulin spikes that cause energy loss and sugar cravings
Protein helps to maintain muscle mass which is important in the fat burning process.
Good choices include:
Fish, shrimps, Low fat cottage cheese, low fat yogurt, skimmed milk, egg whites, s Weight gain is caused by consuming too many calories, whether they are from carbohydrate, protein or fat.
6. Carbohydrates can help you lose weight
Don't believe what you read about carbohydrates being bad for you, they can actually help you lose weight!
A diet containing good carbohydrates such fruits and vegetables, wholegrains and moderate in fat and calories, will result in weight loss
Good carbohydrates will also help you combat hunger pangs as they are slowly realized into the body.
When eating carbohydrates eat them "from the earth" with no refining or processing.
These include whole grains, vegetables; fruits and beans.
Sensible weight loss
If you have read the above you will see that it is not the food group, but the quality of the food in it that's important for fast weight loss.

oh how i wish you could tell me how to gain 10 pounds. many people that are fat have the idea that being skinny would be amazing/awsome. i might agree with them if they were a girl. but if you are a guy and want to be skinny than i dont know what your thinking. i myself am 18, 5 8 and only around 120 pounds. i would do anything to get up to say 140, and am trying to. i have tried to take wieght gain shakes, lifting wieghts, and adjusting my diet to eating more small meals a day, but nothing seems to work.

I suggest drinking lemon juice in the early morning right after you woke up. Take fruits more compare to meats. Go to the gym and do a full workout for 30-45min twice every week. I guarantee you will lose weigh in 3 months without compromising your body and health. :)

I found that if you also drink plenty of plain old water you also lose weight as you are full from the water.
Whenever I want something to snack on I grab a bottle of water and drink it.
Sometimes if I want a pop/soda I will just get a Crystal Light or something simiilar in the single packets and poor into my water so I have a health drink other then soda/pop.
Do you put anything in your water when you want something different to drink?

Yes, losing 10 pound is doable and it is not that hard. Last summer, I lost 15 pound by just wathing what I eat and run a couple times a week. And I feel great. I think if you set your goal too high, it takes longer time to acheive it, so you will not follow thru as if you set you goal smaller. Good luck with everyone who is trying to lose weight. I am with you, because I am trying to lose another 10 pound.

Losing weight means using common sense. I know someone who constantly complains about their weight but do nothing about it. They keep eating out of control and never exercise. It sickens me. I am not fat and never will be because I choose not to. The best advice is to exercise more than once a week, eat sensibly, never go to bed with a full stomach. Cutting soft drinks out of your diet will do wonders. My dad stopped drinking soft drinks for a week and dropped 10 lbs! It was amazing. Taking pills isn't the answer either. You can still enjoy foods that you love, but in moderation. I agree with the "first sigh" theory. First sigh means you are technically full. Losing weight is a life style. It can be a great self esteem booster!

i thnk taht what u have said is so true.whats more i am a bit chubby and i am more than keen to lose weight.i have tried so many different diets and niothing seems to work but i am wiling to give this method a try.i have given some links below which i think that you will like!
