It's not always fair, but every country has rules about admitting visitors, and each country can have very different rules. Maybe when you have more time, you can go talk to the American consulate and find out how you can visit. And the people who read and review the applications don't know the details of each person's case, they only know the information they have in front of them. I've known of people who were refused admittance for a variety of reasons, some of which didn't seem to make much sense.

well i hope if someone ever decides to attack you that you turn down the help from "violent animals" like me people wonder why people like me dont help when they see people being attacked i think the label above sums it up

as much as some people can look after themselves in that situation, not all can...i think he should be applauded and not judged by the exact same way immigration did...people see criminal and violent and dont worry about the reason behind it... a friend of mine ended up in prison for standing up for his brother against like 10 aboriginal youths...one got hit and of course the others stood up for him in court and collaborated their story....as if 2 guys can really honestly beat up 10 yet it was my friend who was punished...not the 10 who started it.

Welcome to the land of red tape. The problem I believe is that there are so many applications for them to go through all the time that they simply don't have time to read past the words. They do not have time to look long and hard at every individual case they have to draw the line someplace.

Yes I think the laws are too tight. From where I come from, you don't have to have a record to be denied entry to the US. One is denied entry merely based on the assumption that he or she has an intention to stay there illegally. If you can't prove to the consul otherwise, sorry for you. But then, how can I blame them, there are just to many illegal in the US, put in their shoes, I probably might do the same. Your case is a little different though. I'm not sure if you have checked out your options, can you appeal your case? In most cases you can. Or perhaps you have decided not to go through the trouble anymore.

i havent looked into an appeal yet my mother is to sick for me to leave england at the moment but i do plan to appeal 1 day

Yes, even they want the visitors to put off their shoes I hope technology improvments will make it easy to scan a human completley without requiring or asking him to unleash !

Haha! I'm an American citizen, yet I had to take my shoes off to get on a plane. I had steel toed cowboy (girl!) boots on and I was late for my flight, I ran out to the plane in socks, carrying my boots and 9mo baby. It was an adventure! This was all after 9/11, everything is so strict now.

I think there is no such thing as the laws to visit America being too tight! As an American, I know that my grandfathers, father, uncles, brothers, husband, friends, etc....have all fought for our freedom and to give us the liberties we take for granted while living in this wonderful country! We all make choices in life, sometimes we make bad choices, and sometimes you have to live with the concequences for the rest of your life! That is part of growing up! That is part of life! I don't think the laws are strict enough on people visiting these wonderful United States of America! They should be even stronger!

i dont think my choice was a BAD choice i made a choice to help this women from getting raped possible killed should i have to pay for that by not being allowed to visit a country that i like ? if its a choice between saveing a women the hurt of being raped or visiting america ide make the same choice again but i dont think i should have to

We let seemingly innocent men come into America and study in our flight schools just so they could blow up the towers. Do you still think our security is too tight? (not that it works properly now or anything.) We just want to keep our country as safe as possible. Our government just doesn't have the time or the manpower to go through disputes like, "Ya I have a felony on my record but I sweaaar officer, it wasn't my fault!" I'm not picking on you - it's what is heard from our own Americans who want government jobs or who violate probation, etc - lol. I hope one day a better system will be devised and you will be able to come over.

well, u know the system of this world. right becomes wrong ang wrong becomes right. whatever the reason is be careful not to have any records so that it will be a lot easier for us to go anywhere.

No I don't think our laws are to strict.....Infact they are very liberal........Your problem is your tring to come in legally.......Most people don't try that they just walk over one of our borders........They don't look at why you did what you did only what you did......I don't think the man who was chasing the women had anything to do with it....You were convicted of a voilate crime and they don't grant visa for that.......

I think they should give you more consideration due to the circumstances. There are illegal people coming across our borders every hour and some of them are guilty of serious crimes. Keep trying, maybe you can visit one of the U.S. embassies with a copy of the police report and see if they can help you.

Yes your case should be treated as special givin the circumstances you mentioned, but it also depends on the country your currently in. If you can provide the proper documents of your arrest and police reports then id suggest getting them and bringing them to the American embassy.

I don't mean to belittle the issue that you're having gettin into America but I have to say no, I don't think the laws are too tight. In fact, I don't think they're tight enough! We have so many illegal immigrants in this country that simply waltz right in and never leave.

People from the Philippines need to have a huge sum of money in their bank account and a year old business if they want to be a tourist in the United States. They are probably strict because a lot of foreigners want to live in the US even though they don't have the right documents.

yes the laws are too tight. but it's really risky as well to allow everybody to visit because most often than not, people stay illegally. as for your case, i think it's normal for them to be more strict especially if you have a record. hopefully you'll find a consul that would realy ask you to get into details and defend yourself.

I'm in Canada, and here they have recently become just as tight, I think it's for good reason, because you never know what could happen. If it's happened once, it'll happen again. I guess all you have to do is look into everything that has gone on within the last 10 years and understand that they are just taking every precaution they can to insure that their countries are as safe as possible. if you have anything on your record they look at that as a possible threat, and for good reason, because most times, it would be that person's fault they had that record. it's just safety and stuff is all...

Yes, i do. But i hate to tell you that if you wish to go to America, you have to be free from any criminal record. The officer who handle this immigration checkpoint is very damn suspicious. Nevertheless, you are still able to go if you can convince the officer.
