Fireworks- Too Much of a Danger or Do you Enjoy Them?

Well in light of New Years Eve having just passed here, I thought that I would talk about fireworks. Have you ever heard about a fireworks display gone wrong? What happened? Are you ever the one to light the fireworks, do they scare you at all? Do you even enjoy fireworks or is there some other way of celebrating that you would prefer?
I've heard of two local incidents where a fireworks display went wrong. One incident where the firework tipped over and the men putting on the display had to jump into the lake for cover. Another incident where my neighbours boyfriend hurt his eye (lucky he did not go blind). Luckily in both of these cases, people were not seriously injured.

I've heard about accidents where regular people are doing fireworks on their streets, not at shows.
Fireworks are illegal here, but some people still do it. One person was doing fireworks one year on 4th of July, and my parakeet freaked out, broke a bone, and had a heart attack apparently on the way to the vet. I do not like fireworks being done in residential areas.
A few minutes ago someone set some off. It's actually very rare here for people to break that law... we've got a policeman living on our street!

We have had an incident in a past july 4th where a firework turned sideways and burned a neighbors bush. We were luckily it wasn't their house, or worse, one of us! So now, I don't think anyone should be lighting fireworks when people are really close or houses are really close. I prefer the professional kinds the local festivals put out. Of course, in MI it's illegal for any individual to shoot fireworks that go into the air, we are only legally allowed to do the kind that stay on the ground. But if you walk around here on the 4th, there are so many illegal things flying into the air so I guess no one cares about breaking the law!

I am sure it is too dangerous for making them selling out to the market. They are banned to import from the neibouring country. But we still remain rocket festival, so we still produce to make compition each year, whose firework rocket goes highest in the sky. But A few fail and go through the ground or on the surface while there are a lot of people standing for watching.

I think fireworks should be limited to the big displays run by professional pyrotechnic companies. There have been way too many incidences where people have been hurt, and places set on fire. My nitwit neighbour was setting off fireworks in his backyard, and was holding the fireworks while it was going off. It was aimed at houses, and set another neighbours shed on fire. People are careless, and kids are always getting their fingers blown off. Ban them to the public!

Fireworks are dangerous but they also provide us with a lot of fun and frolic. I don't think that they should be banned but what i feel is that stricter production measurees should be taken

I used to really like firework displays, until I worked for a while for the local SPCA (animal rescue charity). Every year after new year would be the busiest time for rescuing animals. Many pets panic and run away from their homes, then get lost injured somewhere. I know some people in the area who actually hav to continually tranquilise their pets for a week before the event, because some people set off fireworks in the run up to it. It also really traumatises the local wildlife. All that suffering to so many creatures just for the sake of a few loud bangs and pretty lights?
Of course the most awful are the cruel idiots who inevitably turn up every year and do things like tying fireworks to cats tails.....

Yes, I enjoy them. But I am not in support of them, as these create a good amount of air-pollution, noise pollution, loss of safety and also heavy expenditure! I always ask just light a lamp with simplicity and devotion. It's spirtiual / cultural implications are a lot that you may realise and achieve. Thanks!

I love fireworks, living in New York state where all fireworks are illegal unless it is a public display by licensed companies.
One 4th of July we had a table full of fireworks arranged and waiting to be shot off when an irresponsible person lit one of the fireworks on the table. The whole table went off all at once. Rockets and flaming balls went shooting directly into the crowd. The disaster lasted about 10 minutes, no one was harmed and we continue to do displays, it just isn't 4th of July without them.
