I would much rather go to a concert and see a band play live. Cd's are generally overproduced and are not even what the band is capable of.
What are some of the best live shows you have seen?
I would have to say the best live show I have seen was by a band called built to spill. Just ask me about how amazing their last performance was, I will go on for hours.
And if a band puts our their new record on vinyl is always a plus.
What are your thoughts on live music and vinyl records?

Hmmm Best shows I've seen....
Sonic Youth
Superchunk
Primus
The Pixies
Ive been to hundreds of shows, so I can't really say which was the best, but I miss vinyl. Independent labels still put a lot of releases on vinyl but most of them don't anymore. Built To Spill is AWESOME by the way! I saw them about a year ago and they were PHENOMENAL! One of my all time favorites :)

I am a U2 fan, though I like their pre-Zooropa stuff best with the exception of this latest album. I've seen them three times, and they were amazing in concert. The positive energy in the crowd and coming from the stage was huge. I was buzzed for hours afterwards.
R.E.M. was really good when I saw them years ago, too. They sounded pretty much exactly like their albums.
Rob Zombie *SUCKS* live. And Ozzy Osbourne has unfortunately burnt out his voice so badly that he sort of gave out halfway through Ozfest when I went a few years back...
I don't really have a preference for vinyl, though I certainly remember the pre-CD era. It could go either way for me. I guess I've never really paid attention to the difference, except noticing how much better the CD of U2's "War" album sounded. Maybe it depends on the individual artist or kind of music. I know a lot of classical buffs prefer vinyl, but I've always wondered if that's because they don't like change, or because it's really something about the music. :) I don't know.
