I like the book, it is one among the 'must read'.The idea i.e. how authoritarian rule or communist regimes work, is very well exploited in this book. but the end is quite disturbing, but i have noticed that George Orwell always ends a book like this (eg Animal farm).

I had to read animal farm back in the 9th grade. I didnt really like how he represented the people as animals in the book. This book has pretty similar ideas but it uses actual humans thats why i like it better.

i loved the book... especially the dark shades into which the story is woven... even when orwell wanted to be humorous, ot critical, it had its shade of black. Also the the sections of society that he brought forth in his book seem very unlikely, yet not impossible. The rawness of his narration allows the reader to picture the content.
all in all.. a marvel..

I really liked 1984. I read it a few years back. Winston is something else. I really enjoy the symbolism. George Orwell's books are all filled with symbolism. You should reread Animal Farm and see if you like it better now that you have read 1984.
