I think every work-a-holic needs to watch this movie. I was a work-a-holic once, 9-11 changed that for me. I don't know if this movie would change it for anyone, but it might.
You see, so many of us really do go through life on "auto-pilot". We think we need to work hard to give our kids what we never had, or what we think will make them happy, and we are actually depriving them of the greatest gift of all, our time.
When we get into debt or decide that we just "MUST" have something, we make this even worse, the want becomes a need, or we lose everything. Sometimes it would be better to lose everything and start all over because starting over would put us on level ground instead of the pit we are in.
To many people are spending every minute of their lives trying to fill a void that can only be filled by love. The movie does not mention this, but it points the right direction.
It's funny, this is another one of those movies that everyone talked about, then it disappeared, I guess because it does not tell you to go out and buy, buy, buy.
I say way to go Adam Sandler!
Oh, also, is Adam Sandler really Jewish? I notice in a lot of his movies that is a common theme, and I think it is wonderful that he stays true to who he really is and does not deny it.

I never saw this movie...it actually looked pretty cute, and funny, but when I heard it was sad, I was really surprised. So I think I might rent this one with the bf!

i saw the movie a few weeks ago and i think it could change life for someone. it's a very emotional movie. kids and family need to spend time with us. so many people take that for granted and then when you lose that person you think i shouldve been there but you were too busy working and you blame yourself. he was a good actor in the movie. it was funny and serious. something i havent seen in a movie in a while.

Saw the movie that got me to cry and gave me the lesson that I need. Spending more time with the family is the most important thing in this life. Its really a wake up call for me and my wife. I even called my mom to watch it. I know it would have the same effect on her. I know what you're thinking. Yes, I have my demons to bear. BUt I'm not complaining about it. My mom did all she could to get us all to survive.

That is so true, some people have to work really hard just to put food on the table. It is a sad fact, but all to common. It just goes overboard when people think they have to have everything, and really if we sit back and think about it there is A LOT we can do without.
Take care and thanks for stopping by!

I've seen this film twice, it is indeed great! I love the movies of Adam Sandler ever since, he does make quality films, simple yet meaningful. This movie is very suitable to watch by those parents who has a little time spending with thier family and expend all thier efforts and time to working forgetting some very important relationship to thier love ones. It almost broke me into tears when the character of adam uttered his last words on "family firts"..
and by the way did you also notice that all of adams sandler's film or most of them, there is a cameo role always portrayed by his dear friend Rob Schneider?

I liked this movie much better than I thought I would! It was good and had a good moral to the story. And it was FUNNY!
I'm guessing you are right that Sandler is Jewish although I don't know for sure. Seems to be a focus in the latest movies. Good observation.

When I first saw this movie, I thought I wasn't going to like it. But, my boyfriend saw it and he liked it so I bought it for him for Christmas. Then, of course, I watched it and it was a really good film. It was very warm and touching and also had some very funny moments in it. I really didn't think it would be so funny!
