I do not have a problem with the pledge. I remember saying it every day in elementary school, nor do I have a problem with it being done in public schools now.

I really could care less one way or the other about it. I for one think it, and religion, should be kept out of the schools. I have memories of a lot of kids while I was in school who would have to wait in the hall while we said this. How retarded is it? Did we do anything for them towards their belief system? No, is that wrong? I think so.

I'm for the pledge of allegiance. It used to be that every day we said it at the beginning of the school day. Saying the pledge gives you a connection to your country, and teaches kids to be proud of our country. It used to be that kids actually wanted to join the service and do something for the country. I think the civil liberties union has got their philosopy all wrong in trying to remove it from our schools. When I go to a Memorial day service, and we say these simple words, I still cry...we are one of the most privileged nations in the world because of our freedoms that these brave men and women fought for. What could possibly be so wrong about reciting the pledge??
