On the stroke of midnight, we popped open a couple of bottles of champagne and went out to our front garden to wish all our neighbours a happy new year. Not sure if later, we were drinking champagne or water, as it was lashing rain out of the heavens and we were soaked to the skin..

My husband and I played a board game until midnight and then we've kissed. After that we've watched Star Trek the Next Generation and went to bed. It was fun.

New Years Day I didn't do much, but on New Year's Eve, I stayed up until 5 am and got trashed. This topic makes me wonder, is it pretty normal for people in other countries to get extremely intoxicated on New Years Eve, or is that strictly an American thing?
