Why adding tags to a discussion is important..??

I think most of us find it a nuisance to add tags on every response or comment we make on a discussion. But it is really helpful if we add meaningful appropriate tags.
It helps in bringing out the related discussions when we use the "Search" feature. When appropriate tags are added you can find a discussion you are looking for. Sometimes because of irrelevant tags I get unrelated dicussions even when I type in common words such roses,myLot,users, friends or even tags!
It does get boring to add tags sometimes, but I make it a point to add atleast one word related to the discussion. Honestly, I don't tag my comments though. I've seen many people asking if adding tags pays,as far as I know I don't think you can earn on tags.
As myLot has aptly stated in its explanation for adding tags..help yourself as well as the community.
So people, remember to add relevant, appropriate tags to your discussions! Happy myLotting!

I put tags on my replys as well as my comments. It might take a few extra seconds but I agree with you that the tags are extremely relevant in searches for discussions concerning my interests. I have been able to locate some good discussions using the tags.

I know what you mean about finding good discussions. Sometimes I feel like I'm digging for gold. It feels great when I find a discussin that I feel like I can contribute to.

I have to admit I didn't add tags to start with .. to be honest for the first week or so I didn't really understand what the 'tags' meant ...
But then I started to see how others tagged there discussions and I now make sure I picke out the most important words in my post ..
It would have helped enormously if MyLot had a sample post for 'newbies' to look at .. I would have understood right from the start what to do and why ...

I only tag my posts. I do a lot of responds mostly to any questions that are appealing to me by my friends. That works for me. If you post though, and are in the mood to find a special topic, it makes it easier.

In obliged used tags?
I when answering one of my certain discussions skip because I was lazy to make tags just because for me possibly if most tags will make the person confused, what tags really in needed when we looked for a discussion?
It would be better if for me put him inside interest to be able to meet again with people that I wished the debate.

I also put tags to both response and comments even if I don't know if this could contribute to earning or not. I notice that the discussions that appear are related to the tags I placed.

Obviously the tagging systen serves a good purpose, otherwise tracing a topic would be like going to a search engine and making a blank search for sites.
It is imperative to submit tags when starting a discussion, and of course Mylot will not allow us to start a discussion without tags because it will not submit. I usually pick a few appropriate ones to open a topic, but it is rare that I feel the need to add them when I respond.
I have also noticed some tags that appear unrelated to the subject, which rather destroys the whole purpose.

its important because searching will be fast according to tags ! i will explain you by taking example ! if somebody started discussion related to paypal and given tags as paypal , paypal money , paypal deposit etc then after entering the paypal in search tag you will get all related inofmation to paypal ! so bit easy to get what you want ! otherwise out of so many discussions and post it is not easy to search it yours or meant to you ! can be considered as type of indexing!

I always add tags after my discussion or comments. But sometimes when I've got really tired I just press skip instead.

Yeah this tagging sometimes really hits so bad on head that bores us. And thus, whenever I respond to a discussion, I quickly press skip. Because I thought the relevant author has tagged for the discussions he had started. SO there obviously is not reason to tag again. But I make sure that whenever I post a discussion, I tag at least with a keyword related to the posting. I think that helps to group the related topics under discussions. What say? Mylot is so easy to use, yet so unfathomable.

Sometimes the authors of discussions don't add tags, I don't know for some reason they just don't! I've read so many discussions without tags and in most cases when I've been the first to respond I make sure I add a tag. so if you come across such discussions add a tag:) I agree tags help in categorising.

Hey kewl.. you're in the top disscussions of the day!!! Yes, I totally agree that people should add RELEVANT tags to their disscussions and make it easier for peopel to find discussions that interest them. Tagging comments... I don't know if that helps, but I do it anyway..

You are right in saying that adding tags is helpful to the Mylot community. I guess that we don't get paid for adding them.. I had hoped that perhaps it helped add to our earnings somehow *laugh* But really, it only takes a few extra seconds to add at least one relevant keyword to each post or comment that you make, and it will help others to find the posts that they are looking for when using the search feature. Thanks for your helpful post! ^_^

My idea is to define a suitable tag for every comment, so that anyone can easily understand that what is written under this topic. it is helpful to those also who are coming first time in this discussion. they can easily understand the topic by just viewing its tag.
