Lookin into future wht do u think whn all the conventional energy sources get over ...i thnk Nuclear enery is the only solution ...it has huge potential and definitely enormous enrgy to meet the ever rising demands...it is sad tht the world got the first taste of Nuclear power in a horrible way. ..but may be down the line u will get nuclear fuels,in gas station instead of petrol, fusion and fission reactions being used in place of LPG..can u think of this time ahead...??
Countries doing R&D in this field and developing safeguards to meet the impending energy crisis will call the shot 20 yrs from now

I agree completely. Until there is another power source discovered nuclear energy is the only one that can produce the power needed in this world. Nuclear Power is actually safe even though many people think not. The technology used in a nuclear reaction controls the reaction perfectly and harmlessly.

Suppose, we finally derive tht magical formula to convert, nuclear poer to electricity, still then at the end of the tunnel we are looking at huge volumes of radioactive waste, far more dangerous than what we have like pollution from smoke, plastic bags.So i feel u go all out for it,some means should be there in place to take care of this stuff

nuclear power is converted into electricity. http://www.nucleartourist.com/systems/sg.htm . Uranium rods are used to create heat to turn water into steam and it turns a turbine which produces electricity. Its all very safe. As for nuclear waste. We either find a way to reuse the uranium or we dump it on the moon, hehe. or space watever.

There are several problems with nuclear energy, but that doesn't mean that it won't eventually become a solution to the energy crisis. One thing, besides the obvious risks, is that it is very costly, with a low net energy yield. Another problem is that the reactors have to contained for around 10,000 years, after their usable life. This means there has to be a containment of some type. The advantages are there is a large supply, and unless there is an accident or terrorist attack, there are few accidents. Another alternative that is being tried in some places is wind power.

nuclear reactors give a very high yield of energy. The containment is a problem. But the break down of uranium through all its stages to thallium etc. eventually ends up bak at uranium. It will be possible to reuse the product uranium in the future hopefully.

This is what I've heard, too. I think it sounds scary because so few of us really understand the science behind it, and also because we know this kind of energy can be used destructively. But it may be the way of the future.

yes no doubt about that..we r for sure looking into charge stations intead of Gas stations, all the locomotives will run on electric charge obtained from the Nuclear energy...sciemtists and government have to think of real tough ways to safeguard it's misuse..how they do it is for all of us to imagine

I think solar and wind energy have a huge potential too. I think the Indian Space administartion is considering tapping solar energy from space and beamig it to the earth, and I am not sure, but I think this is going to an international effort. Nuclear energy can be risky inspite of all the space guards that a nation takes.
I am a man, please don't be misled by my curent avatar.

Nuclear is one of the ways. There can be some work done in the field of Harnessing Solar Energy effectively.

i can see a future in it, but also in hydrogen fuel cells, and i think these will be used and researched alot more readily than nuclear energy. but again this will be surpassed, most likely by nuclear energy, and yes i do also believe that the countries doing the research now will have the greatest share in the market later. hopefully it will be a UN movement to start wide spread research so that we know what we are dealing with before we start doing any tests. the amount of potential energy that is available from nuclear reactions is huge, more than enough to cope with what we use for many years, but im not so sure on the idea of small fusion ans fission reactors.. they are a possibilty but then so is aliens... its just how likely is this possiblity..
it would involve moving radioactive substances around, you would have to buy it from gas stations or similar, i just think there is too much potential there for poisoning to humans, the atmosphere etc. i think the only way they will make use of it is to use stations and then distribute the electricity so then it can be used to charge anything portable, and the majority of cars will be charged up from this, and we wont have gas stations, but charging stations or similar. so to sum up, yes i think we will get to that stage where we have to rely on nuclear power, but i think we will develop a few other things on the way which will tide us over for a great deal of time first.

yeah ...i agree with u bro..the best way to stop the manhandling of Nuclear energy wud be to convert it into a more harmless form like electricity...after all energy can neither be created nor destroyed, but can only be transformed form one form to other.so we r lookin at charge stations in the future.do u have any idea about any res. work being done to convert nuclear power to electricity from the economical point of view ??

For as long as nuclear energy can be produced in manner that it would not create problems right we are having right now finding how to properly diposed of the nuclear waste that these nuclear plants produce today. Although burying is the method being adopted by many it still does not answer the issue that the containers that contain the nuclear waste may well long decayed but the radiation that these waste may still be lethal and may sip through our water and the land which may be catastrophic later on. I would agree on the development of hydrogen technology where the only by product is pure water which is some how okay for me.
