Are you a fan of Lord of The Rings? Did you read the books, see the movies, or do both? I never read the books and only saw bits and pieces of each movie.

If you are going to read the books, please start with "The Hobbit." It tells the story behind how the hobbits got the "Ring." I was very disappointed that the movie series didn't start with the Hobbit. I feel that if I had not read the books, I would have missed something. Perhaps I am wrong. I also suggest reading the other writings of tolkein, Writings from Middle earth, and the poetry of the elves. Lovely writing.

You should definately see all three films if you like fantasy stories. They are fantastic. the acting, the scenery, everything about them is great. I am a real fan of Lord of the Rings trilogy. However, I confess I bought the books years ago and still have not read them. Someone gave me The Hobbit by Tolkien and said this is a good read too.

yes, I like very much and I read book not once. Some people say that this is a fairy story but I'm not agree. I think this book has philosofical meaning.

I grew up on the books, and for most of my formative years read both The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings every single year without fail. Its the Silmarillion that I've only ever read a few times, I found that much less easy to lose myself in, though I did like some of Tolkien's shorter works like Farmer Giles of Ham, that was very entertaining.

I saw all three movies, and it's good. But I think it's more better if I read the book also, I want to know more of the characters of the story..

Cool! I had no idea that there was a "Tolkien Day" or that this was it. I have seen the first Lord of The Rings movie and enjoyed it, although I felt that it was a bit long.. that aspect has kept me from viewing the rest of the series, so far.. and I think that I have read bits of the books, as well. ^_^
