I would say there is nothing of that sort in todays world even in India... at leat to our family.,..we all have it without any issue.. if some one or some family is doing those.. then they are pathetic.

I have never heard of this I am a quater Indian my mom's family has Indian in it but I am not sure of all of the Indian customs or traditions. This is ineresting

What? Why? I have never heard of such things, there's probaly been many a time that your mother cooked your dinner while she was on her "cycle". I can't see why it would matter at all whether or not a female was.

All are low grade thinking of some low grade people.These are all superstitions and misbeliefs of the certain class of society.

Yes ..this happens.
But the logic behind this is....in olden days when there was not proper hygienic conditions and secondly to give rest from kicthen work, they were asked to take rest and not to do the kitchen work.
But Now these things needs to be changed with the changing world and culture.
