What type of pans do you prefer?

We have a big commercial stove, so most of our pans are heavy cast iron with a little bit of enamelled Le Creuset as well. We have one of two big stainless steel stockpots as well to help deal with teh bigger batches of things. We also use a wok a lot when we want things to cook quickly. Just wondered what sort of cookware everyone else used.

I love cast iron. All the pans I see are usually way too expensive for me, though. They're worth it, since they last forever, but right now they're just out of my price range. So now I'm using less-expensive non-stick pans. Cast iron's on my wish list, though!

Evry last one of oure came from car boot sales and charity shops, don't think we've ever paid full price for a pan :)

Oh, believe me, I look at every garage sale I go to and scour the thrift shops for them! Either no one around here is willing to part from them, or I'm just not quick enough! I'll keep looking, though.

I admit, I don't have the best cookware... It does the job, but it's just basic non-stick pots and pans. However, for baking, I use stones a lot, you know, the cooking stones from Pampered Chef? I have a ton of them and use them for everything. I have loaf pans, bar pans, pizza stones, cupcake pans, and tons of others. All the things I bake turn out really good when I bake them in the stones. Bev

We have bakestones over here, but I think yours might be different. In Wales a bakestone is a big round or square sheet of metal, very thick and heavy, that you put on the stove and cook on top of it. Things like welshcakes and dropscones work well on a bakestone.

I use a lot of Farberware pans with non-stick coatings on them. I also have a set of glass/Corning ware pots that are very useful to me. I like to use a Wok when I get to doing stir frys.

I prefer anything that is non stick. They are much easier to clean than the other types of pans. No mater want you cook in them they just need a little bit of soap and water and they come clean. No scrubbing nessecary.

I want a set of the stainless steel ones with the copper core, the copper is supposed to help distribute the heat evenly. But everyone should have one good cast iron skillet. What I'm using now is junk, just the non-stick T-Fal. I'd really love to replace it this year.

I have a set of enamelled Le Creuset but find these very heavy to use, so I mainly use stainless steel pots and pans. I also use a wok and at times cook in my microwave. I used to use teflon non stick ones but i was told these can be bad for you if they get scratched the teflon can start to flake off and it can be very bad for your health.
