Over the last few years i find myself sepnding more and more time sitting at the computer, rather than out doing physical activities. this kind of concerns me. it's nice to sit and chat to people from all countries and cultures in the the comfort of your own home, with the net you're never alone (well.. sort of), and it can teach you anything you wan to know about. but it doesnt offer much in the way of physical development. with technology we are already so lazy these days. working in the building trade, i work with a man of 64 years old and he's extremely fit and healthy for his age. this is down to all the manual labour he has been involved in over the years. with technology there's not as much need for manual lifting. They say we are living longe and longer but I wonder if I really will still be working at the age of 64.

Technology is not making as lazy. We are doing what we want. You have to make your schedule, and find more time for everything.

I know that I am in worse shape after taking a job on the computer for the last few years. I do exercise, but it just isn't enough and it isn't the same as normal activity. Technology may be good for some things, but I agree with what you're saying. The human body was meant to move all day long, not sit like a lump on a log.

The problem, as I see it, is not the technology by itself (a atomic bomb is not evil or good, it is an object, the problem lies with the way humans use it). If we are lazy is our guilty not technology. We can exercise, at least walk (I do it, for every hour on the computer I walk at least 10 minutes, besides the weeks regular exercises).

I think that if it came to that point, the government would probably start trying to regulate it and force people to do exercises (I think that already exists in some places).
Maybe you should go buy a nintendo Wii, at least that technology gets you up and moving around a little.

Quite true.Physical development has taken a back seat and slowly fading as computer games and computer related work have taken their place.
i guess we need to adapt to the changing times and always remember that technology was created to make lives easier and spend more time for our other activites.
I we need to SPEND time and effort for physical development(gone are the days when it was a natural aspect of our lives ..walking to school , playing in the hot sun for most of the day ,run for errands etc). It is worth teh investment.

i think u r right, technology will make people lazy and those days are not far away when people can sit at home and earn money. what this will do is that people will stop going out for their day to day activities and the interaction between people will get lesser every passing day.

I think it all depends on your lifestyle. As a writer I spend a lot of time infront of my computer, and it's my main creative outlet.

Its all really up to you. Technology will ruin you if you abuse it. However, if you use it the right way, then it is very beneficial.
