Brain Hyper-active Right Before Sleeping

Has anybody else experienced this? My mind just buzzes with ideas for books, storylines for novels, or lines for poetry right before I fall off to sleep. My head hits the pillow, my eyes close and my mind just goes at it. I want to get up and write them down but then, I'm just way too tired and sleepy to do so. I often end up putting it off til the next day. Voila! Ideas, storylines, dialogues, all gone. How do you deal with this?

try not to have sweets before sleeping, sweets can make you hyperactive... and yes a recorder would be ok...

Hmmm...sweets could be on of the culprits since I do have a sweet tooth. I'll try cutting back on that, say, a few hours before hitting the sack? :)

I have the same problem. Keep a recorder by your bedside and record your thoughts. You may actually fall asleep doing so, but most of your creative ideas will survive.

A recorder would probably be a good idea, although I think I'm gonna have to suffer the weird looks my hubby will be throwing my way once I do start doing that. Hehehe. Oh well, maybe I could place my computer nearer the bed so I can type them up instead. Hmmmm. :)

After having a headache (usually migraine) i have a burst of energy and ideas, and it's most of the times in the middle of the night. I have to counter myself to do or to think to deep. It's feels good.

Yes, when that happens my husband just groans. Keep a tablet and pencil by your bed for when this happens and a dim light so you don't disturb others. The only way to retain the ideas is to write them imediately. Write them or lose them.

I think it's normal. Your mind relaxes and starts to free-associate. I can't tell you how many times I've laid down for twenty minutes and then gotten up to write and stayed up half the night. My wife does the same thing, she dreams dialogue for her stories. I think keeping a pen and notebook by the bed helps, you can write it all down and then let it go for the night.
