HI, I'm expecting a baby in april. I had an ultrasound a few weeks ago, I was really curious, is it a boy.. is it a girl? But the lady couldn't see! Tha baby was curled up with the legs pulled together and the feet covering the whole area! So now I propably have to wait until I deliver. Because here you only get one ultrasound for free, if you want more you have to pay. Or there must be a medical reason. I am wondering who chose not to know?

Hi we had a baby boy on December 13th 2006.. and we did not wanted to know the gender before its birth.. We were very happy with the surprise adn it was worth it... You will be so thrilled when you deliver baby just because you don't know whether its a girl or boy...

Yeah I think so to, I would be very thrilled. I don't really have a preference, just like they say.. as long as it is healthy and I mean that. But the thing is I am really a curious person, it does not matter wether it's a boy or girl, I just really want to know. Plus the practical side is, that I don't really have girls stuff. What did you do, just buy general things

I had more than one opportunity with my son to find out and I always told the technician I didn't want to know. I wanted a surprise. I was surprised with both of my children and I think it was great. There are so few real surprises in life that the moment of birth is so wonderful.

Well, the ultrasound thing is more of a medical reason than because of money. If money was the case, doctors would be pushing them like crazy. It is not 100% what the effects of an ultrasound will do, so many doctors only do ultrasounds when necissary. If money is a problem for you and you REALLY want to know, contact your local colleges and see if they have a program where students are learning how to do ultrasounds. Out here where I live they do, and they perform them for free, because it is a learning experience. I am pregnant now, for the first time and REALLY want to know but the doctor won't check until I am about 18 weeks along...the wait is KILLING us, but I would rather wait and only have the ultrasounds needed, not wanted. Worse comes to worse, we find out the day we have our baby. I would rather do that than possibly harm our child.

I'm sorry you couldn't tell if the baby was a boy or girl. I suggest buying clothes that are nutral colors that both boy and girl can wear. And as long as the baby is health that's all you can ever wish for. I wish you the best of luck ... and congrates.

we chose not to know. we didnt find out with our first (boy) and once again, we are not finding out with this new baby -also due in april :) there are so little surprises anymore. this is the best surprise we could ever get. yes, it is driving everyone else around us crazy. haha. they are more antsy than we are, but why do they need to know? if we are ok with being in suspense, they should respect our choice. and yes, we just stick with buying neutral colors, greens, whites, and some yellows. we only need onsies (which are white anyway) and some sleepwear for the baby in the first few weeks. THEN we can go out and buy clothes for either boy or girl. the baby room is decorated with some teddy bears and the walls are mint green.

At first I wanted to not know, but then from pressure from family and friends I gave in. I'm having a boy in March by the way. However, I do think it would have been fun to not know. My parents didn't know with me or my sister and they said it was the best surprise of their lives when we were both born
