One of the things I'm determined to do is to get all my photos scanned. I had no idea i had so many. Once they are scanned I don't know what to do with them. I want to start scrapbooking but it will take me years to do all of em ... HELP! How do you organize your photos, if you do.

I have been working on this for a couple years now. I am collecting photos from other family members. Last CHristmas I made photo books for all my cousins. They loved them. I scanned my photos into into albums labeling brother, sisters, and other relationships. I even have a folder for exes. I want to put out cds for everyone that way they can print out what they want. I have been able to find pics as old as late 1800s

Wow that is great! I hope to make a few cds when I get them all scanned and sorted etc. I'm trying to get motivated again.

I understand what you mean. I have boxes all over the house. I also noticed there are alot of pictures that are stuck together because of the dampness and humidity in my home. :(

It's a long, hard process, but I'm doing it. Keep up the good work!

Scrapbooking is fun. You might find you get hooked and it won't take as long as you think. It is also a fun way to show off your pictures.

scrapbooking - keeping pictures in an organized fashion helps to be ready for your crafty scrapbooking event
Once you have them in the computer, you can get a free photobucket account and set up different files. I also have a flickr account and have not used it much yet but I will. Hope you find what you need to organize all your treasured photos.

You've taken the first step... you know you want to do something. What you need to keep in mind is that anything you do is better than the way it was. Honestly, I would start with the most current pictures you have and work your way backward. If you start with your earliest pictures, you'll feel like you're never going to get caught up. If you start with the last pictures you took, you have everything fresh in your mind and you'll be able to put down all the details. As far as organizing, what I did was take and 8 foot table and divided it up into years. Then I'd go through all the pictures and put the pictures in the correct year. Then I'd take that year's pictures and try to go through by birthdays and events to put them in some type of order. Are you scanning the pictures to print copies of them or to do some digital scrapbooking? If you're printing copies then the above idea will work. If you want to make digital pages, then you can divide the scanned pictures into folders. Good luck to you! It will be soooo worth it when you're done!

Since you are scanning all of your photos why not try digital scrapbooking. There are some programs that are so easy all you have to do is select the photos and the program will create the album for you. I have software that let's me do that or when I am feeling creative I can make an album from scratch. Then I burn it to a cd/dvd and can mail it out to family or put it in the archives.
