But just because they are able to be inducted that doesn't mean they will be. It took Black Sabbath many years after they were able to be to actually be inducted into the Hall which is horrible. I'll be glad if Slayer gets inducted, but surprised at the same time - especially if its sometime within the next year or two.

I think Dave Lombardo left for a period of time then rejoined the band for "Christ Illusion" might be wrong though.

I agree. They are one of the most important bands of thrash metal ever, along with Metallica and Megadeth, and they should be recognized for it.

I agree that those three bands should be recognized, however the only one I really could see inducted is Metallica. I somewhat doubt Slayer will be inducted possibly because of lyrical themes and I think Megadeth is highly overshadowed by Metallica.

I kind of doubt it's going to happen for a while, but Slayer definitely deserves recognition! (Not that they're not getting a fair share of it already)
What I think is cool is that Slayer has been evolving. The sound has been changing slightly between the albums, but it still sounds raw and real. "God Hates us All" is even one of my favourite albums for driving (the sound production is so good). I haven't heard "Christ Illusion" yet, though.

"God Hates Us All" did have a unique sound to it, extremely aggressive on that album. From what I remember I didn't like "Christ Illusion" too much but then again I'm a much bigger fan of Slayer's earlier work.

Oh is this the year that they're able to be nominated? If Show No Mercy came out in 1983, which I believe it did, then I guess so. I personally feel that they should be inducted but I somewhat doubt that they will be just because of their lyrical topics. Black Sabbath, probably the greatest metal band of all time, took so many extra years to be recognized for it and be inducted. Its really almost become a joke by inducting someone like Madonna and inducting Sabbath so many years after they were first able to be inducted.

Nice to see we have some Slayer fans here...went to see them couple years back- with my grey hair and all- and they had the next generation of fans thrashing the place to hell! I think they are personally responsible for the ringing in my ears and my lack of hearing!
