What do you think about dog breeders?

I am a breeder of American Cocker Spaniels. I absolutely love my dogs and they are very well taken care of. However, I do think that there are some really bad breeders out there. Come on everyone! Give me your opinion, good or bad, I want to hear it!

There is bad in everything - there are bad breeders, there are bad owners - every category of people have bad in it, so you just have to make up for their badness (is that a word?) and be really good!!

Yes, I do have trouble parting with them at times. However, if you think about it like this: By the time you have cleaned up after 6 or more puppies for 6-8 weeks, then you are ready for them to go! LOL!
I am like you, I cannot stand that thought of someone mistreating any animal! At times, I think of getting all of my pets fixed and stop breeding, but at other times, when my phone is ringing like crazy with people wanting puppies, I keep doing it! Someday, soon, I'll probably quit and just enjoy my pets even more than I already do!

My mother had a cocker spaniel and she mated with my springer spaniel. Now we have a "Sprocker Spaniel"..lol That was 6 yrs ago and not planned. I was staying with my mother while relocating and...well the rest is history.
I also have a Chihuahua that will be 2 next month. I finally decided to breed him and just put a deposit on a cute little female from a breeder in my state. You can see her picture in my profile...Bella born Dec. 15, 2006.
My English Springer passed when hit by a car 2 yrs ago.
And yes you're right there are many good and reputable breeders, and lots of puppy mills.
