Broken Health Care System

Something must be done about the health care situation in this country. Up until a few years ago most large companies provided for free, health insurance for their employes and their families. As a solution some recommend what is called universal health insurance which is socialistic and in the case of countries that use this system the overall care while free is less than adequate. Health care like every other service and commodity should be subject to the laws of supply and demand. What has to be done is lesson the demand for health care. I don’t want to get into the immigration debate but if millions of illegal aliens are getting free health care by going to emergency rooms at hospitals it must do a lot to raise the cost of health care for everybody else. But more important, people should not be encouraged to get medical care for every ache and pain that they have. The medical industry constantly tells the public that they should get annual exams and tests, chest exrays, prostrate, breast, etc. that they may not need. Then they are given medications that a lot of time do more harm than good which also raises the cost of health care. And finally the malpractice situation, of coarse if someone is severely damaged by a medical professional he should be compensated but million dollar claims for someone making minimum wage is excessive. While some people may complain about this, society must do what is best for the majority. Many Americans are now without health insurance because of these abuses and we need leaders that have the courage to overhaul a corrupt system.
