We had a rabbit but had to get rid of her to a new family, a couple of months ago because we weren't able to give her the attention she deserved. She also liked bread. We'd give it to her as a treat but she only liked one kind of bread that we gave her, Orowheat Country Potato, any other kind she turned her nose up at.

I second not recommending bread. Rabbits have a rather delicate digestive system and you don't want to mess them up because it is not fun trying to get their GI tract back on track!

My advice is not to give rabbits bread to eat, because it's full of carbohydrate. Rabbits needn't too much of it! :)

The most important part of a rabbit's diet is hay. But rabbit's usually like things that aren't great for them to eat in large quantities. I've found most enjoy pellets, cilantro, parsley, rose petals, and of course... bananas! Carrots actually contain too much sugar to be fed often. But carrot tops aren't bad. Some greens have bad calcium/phosphorus ratios though and can contribute to bladder sludge and stone problems in an animal predispositioned towards such problems.

Uh oh. I did not realize that carrots can be bad for them. I know iceburg lettuce and cabbage are no-no's even though I'm sure most people don't know that. My rabbit is not crazy about fruit. I will have to try the apple and banana with him and see if he likes that. But he does not like melon or tomato for sure.

The less fruit the better, as it's also sugary. Things like cilantro and red leaf, romaine, green leaf lettuces are good. There is a list of healthy veggies at www.guinealynx.info that pertains more to guinea pigs, but anything safe for guinea pigs would also be safe for rabbits.

My rabbit really likes fruits too. Bananas and apples are her favorite.

Just make sure not to overfeed the fruits. Vegetables are better. About 1 cup per day is good for a 5 poundish rabbit.

Our rabbit goes mad over dandelions and dandelion leaves. She absolutely loves them! It is a delicacy and she could easily stuff herself with them. They are in plentiful supply, don't cost anything and she loves you for them! Rabbits also love apples, gives their teeth something to gnaw on. However our rabbit is not very fond of carrots for some reason, which is strange, I guess she is very fussy!
