So i had this really nice elderly woman who lived there, she had some interesting stories and a while back she had the Oprah camera crew around her house over a story involving her kids thinking she was dead for years and finally getting to reunite with them. She would always drop off little goodies to our place like fresh veggies and stuff, such a sweetheart and a while back she just disappeared. She never said she was moving.. she just was gone and her place was empty. :( Well this morning i was cooking breakfast and i looked out my back window. It would seem that we now have new neighbors. The area i live in we have a communal backyard sort of, but in all reality we are the only ones that really use it because we are the only ones around here that have a door that goes towards it. Not sure if that makes sense, but it'll have to do. Anyways, there is a trashy gray car there now and a Safeway shopping cart in my backyard next to their house. I really hope they are going to be trashy neighbors, this area used to be like that, but the new owner has really done a great job getting rid of the trouble and cleaning the places up. It's like a small community of houses on a block, only one small building has several places in it like an apartment, i suppose it could be called a cottage village or something. I wonder if it gets real bad with the carts or other stuff like that if i should say something to the landlord?

Violette, check your discussion. I think you left out the word not when you said I really hope they are going to be trashy neighbors. Yes, I do think you should complain to your landlord if they give you any problem and it seem like they are already cluttering up your back yard. I know this is hard to deal with and non of us like to be the one to report someone but the landlord may not know nor see the things you have to look at from your back window. Lets hope that they have just moved in and will clear up everything soon. The Safeway shopping cart.......I just wonder where and how they got that. Just keep your eyes open for the next week or so and you will have the answer to your own question.

Well the cart has disappeared, so that's a good thing. It was a Safeway cart because there is a Safeway about three blocks or so down from my house. It seemed to clear itself up though, so i'm happy.

right now you should just wait and see what king of people they are. You never know they could become your best friends. I can understand where you are coming from tho. Now that things are clean and looking good you want to keep it that way. all I can say is be patient and see what happens if things really stat looking bad then you NEED to report it to your landlord. He/She is not going to know what is going on unless you tell them.

I agree better wait and watch before you ruffle any feathers and start a relationship on the wrong foot. Get to know the new persons first. You might actually like them. Neighbours are sometimes for life so better cool down and wait till they get settled and make a call on them. Never pre-judge a person.

The shopping cart disappeared and hasn't returned and it seems all quiet now.. so perhaps it was a fluke. I was getting worried heh.. i had a neighbor once that was HORRIBLE about that... cars.. trash all kinds of stuff and it was right in my yard almost. o_O

You should wait to see what happens and if the mess gets cleaned up but if it does not then I would talk to you neighbors first to see if they would pick up there stuff and if not I would then contact the lanlord.

There is no excuse for shopping carts in your backyard. That is laziness and absolutel disgusting. I would call the police and tell them about the carts, because where i live they report them as stolen property. I know you want to be nice with all of your neighbors and who knows, they may be nice people, but you are all sharing a community and a backyard, so these new people need to have respect for that.
