Boxed Pizza ???

My shopping trip to Aldi today cost me $59. They offer a wide variety of goods. I usually don't buy pizza, but for a quick meal that cost $3.59 you really can't go wrong. Add a salad and dinner is served. My own homemade pizza is much better. I haven't made it in quite sometime. Boxed pizza, quick meal, cheap meal.

It's been a long time since I've been to Aldis, but it sounds like you did well there! *laugh* I love pizza and my family buys it boxed fairly often. I think that we have found it for cheaper than $3.59, but you are probably talking about larger sized pizzas than we usually buy. It's certainly far cheaper than going out to eat at a pizza place or having one delivered, though! By far! *laugh* I'm sure that your homemade pizza is lovely! I can't remember if I've ever had a homemade pizza. Certainly not in my own home. Maybe at a friend's. ^_^ I know that a friend and I used to make pizza sandwiches of a sort, by putting cheese and sauce onto slices of bread. Those were quite good! ^_^ I guess that that was a sort of homemade pizza, now that I think about it, although not in the traditional sense! ^_^

It is one of the self-rising pizzas. I put some sliced mushrooms on it too.

I used to shop at Aldis all of the time. I need to start again. Usually you can get so much for such a reasonable price. I love getting produce there. Of course when I went for the first time in months, it was January second and I guess everyone was filling their New Years resolutions because all of the produce was gone! All that was left was onions! I've never seen anything like it! Shopping at Aldis is great because I can avoid all of the extra spending I do shopping at Walmart!

Aldi's is one of my favorite stores. Sign up for their newsletter and see all the bargains before they come out in the paper. I don't like their pre-made pizza crust. It was kind of cardboardy, but their Grandessa brand everything is great. I love to shop their around the holidays - BUTTER - $1.29 a pound! Oh, dear, I'm getting all excited thinking about it. I have a physical therapy appointment on Tuesday and it is in the same plaza. I had better not forget to put my bags in the car and my "cart quarter" is ALWAYS in the tray of my car!~Donna

I always carry my Aldi quarter in my change purse. I have to start keeping the bags in the car. Yesterday I forgot to bring my bags and ended up grabbing a few of the empty boxes to put the groceries in.

You not only need to keep some bags in your trunk, a quarter where you can easily reach it, but isn't it grand when someone is getting ready to put their cart back and you can just give them the quarter and not have to struggle with that thing - especially in the cold weather? ~Donna

You are right. Looking for cheap, that's definetly cheap. This week some of the grocery stores have bagged salad 2 for 4.00 so I'll be getting some of those tonight. It's tough to be on a budget, but it's amazing what you can come up with to eat.

I paid $1.79 for Italian blend at Aldi. Bought 3 tomatoes for $1.69.

I am extremely jealous of folks who have an Aldi near them. I hear friends online all the time talking about the great deals they get there. I'm a single parent and I've learned that it really does help stretch the main entree to add a salad or a quick side of veggies to every meal. I try to stock up on frozen pizzas when they're on sale to have for emergency dinners, even at regular price it's cheaper than calling for Pizza Hut.

I call them quicky dinners. Even if we have taken something out for dinner ahead of time, that doesn't mean that we will feel like taking the time to prepare it. We do not have pizza often, but it is nice to have one on standby in the freezer, just in case.

I don't mind a cheap meal once in a while. There's nothing wrong with a box pizza once in a while. There are good ones, then there are ones that really don't taste good. So if you get a box pizza, get a good quality one.

This one was actually not bad. I have had name brand pizzas that were too salty, too mushy, and the overall taste was not to my liking.

Wow, it's been a long time since I went to Aldi. I used to go there at least every two weeks or so. I've had the boxed pizza once. It wasn't bad, but not great, either. I guess I got what I paid for. I've never made homemade pizza (never wanted to tackle what I percieve as a huge task) so this was as close to homemade as I've gotten. I did get the plain cheese and dress it up with pepperoni, sliced mushrooms, and lots of extra cheese, so it had a little personal touch to it.

When you have a large family or are having a lot of people over, it is very economical.

Aldi do sometimes have some very good things in, they tend to stock local vegetables and milk as well rather than produce that has travelled long distances, and whilst some of their lines are horrible a few are very good indeed. I buy my olive oil there and have had good deals in their seasonal produce as well.

I must say, you're making me hungry. $3.59 is a very good deal. I'm assuming it's a small one though. If it's a large one then that's an even BETTER deal. I want pizza so bad now. I think I'm going to bug my husband for it now haha.

Boxed pizza is quick and is cheap. Nothing beat a homemade pizza made with our favorite tomatoe sauce and tasty toppings. Next time make your homemade pizza and you will probably enjoy it way more!

I usually dress up even the boxed pizza with chopped veggies and extra cheese at the very least. I agree that homemade is better, but this is not too bad, and you can customize it.

Home made isn't always better. I have made homemade items plenty of times, and with a few exceptions, preferred to eat out.

Doesn't sound bad. We are trying to eat healthier this year though. How are their meats such as roasts and all?

Yeah....I know what you mean. We sometimes make homemade pizza too...but haven't in a while. We buy some thick, long Chinese style bread and just load toppings on and bake it..it is great. However..sometimes you just want something fast and simple. It is amazing that you never go to the store for just a couple of things....lol.

We also go to Aldi's although i find they dont have alot of things that i need so it means having to go shopping at 2 different places but they are very cheap! and with the box pizzas i always had extra on top of them to make them nicer because i do find sometimes they dont have much topping on them!

We have been on a tight budget lately so we have tried several of the boxed pizzas,so much cheaper then eating or ordering out. Giant Eagle has a good one,it is usually on sale for under $4. Aldis is not really close to us,but they are putting in a super aldi just down the road.

I love Aldi and shop there often. I have found that their house brands are as good as, or better than any other supermarket brands. I have had one of their pizzas before and thought it was great. They have such great deals on so many items, really helps to stretch the budget.
