Pfizer Inc. will market Slentrol, a liquid formula, to owners of the estimated 5 percent of U.S. dogs that are 20 percent above their ideal weight.
The FDA says the drug's "mechanism for producing weight loss is not completely understood," but seems to cause less fat absorption. Overweight pets are more likely to develop heart disease, diabetes and joint problems, according to the government agency.
According to Slentrol's labeling, a veterinarian must monitor the monthly weight change of a dog on the drug and adjust the dosage accordingly.
Would you consider to have your pet on weight lost pills?

i would consider using weight lost pills if it would save my dog from endangering its life.but if i can still manage its weight as natural as possible i'll stick to that.their just like humans that just needs to follow a healthy diet.and to achieve that is to have discipline.:)

I wouldn't go that far, I'd do the food but not the pills.

it same with diet pills for human, it never seem to work after a while, seem like a good idea at first and than it is nothing after that, unless they came up with some thing that actually work. did they test on other animals? how long they test it for? no one know but they do, so it couldnt work at all
