I think it's not just guys being protective of their sisters. I know a lot of guys will do the same for their brothers. It's a sibling thing.

S they are protective. They should be but they should not restrict for everything, sisters should be set free but sisters should not misuse their freedom.

some brothers are, but that's because they know what men are capable of and they want to warn their sisters and protect them from all players around... It's good that brothers look after their sisters, that's what i think at least

My brother was. He is 2 years older than me and he was always trying to protect me. He used to tell his friends that they could not date me, if they called our house looking for me, he would cuss at them. Of course at the time I was so aggrivated with him because his friend were older and CUTE!!! Now, I think is sweet that he wanted to take care of his little sister. I think all brothers should protect their sisters.

I think it is important for a guy to be over protective of his sister. It shows he cares and wants nothing to happen. An no girls should not be allowed to do everything openly.

A brother must understand just like parents where the line is? Where the interference is required. The problem comes when suppose family persons do not like some decisions of the daughter/sister.

Well fizza we humans think differently at different age. In youth one doesnot like if any restrictions are imposed but at the same time when the same youth becomes parent starts imposing something on the kids/child. I am also against imposing anything on anyone. Of course there must be ways to discuss the matter and reach a solution.

I think sisters wtih protective brothers turn out better than those that are too easy. Over protective brothers can do more damage than good. They should under no circumstances be allowed to do that. Having said that, protective would be someone who knows who his sister is seeing and what she is upto, and has a say and an influence in her life. Over protective is when he interferes in her decisions and imposes his will without consideration to the sister's choices, even when she has maintained decent limits and has chosen wisely not only by her standards in general.

ya its fine to leave gals upto their wish but how can a brother forget his responsibilty on her .. i don't think this sense is completely wrong .. as a brother he should play his part but must make her feel that he is trying to limit her freedom .. care ur sister such that she doesnt even feel she is restricted....

Ya, thats been true that as guy we should protect those girls which for sure not limited to our own sister:) At the same times the self defence by themselves should actively encourage as well as to minimise the risks they were facing.

one thing i would like to quote here is an example that why girls r protected more than guys by their parents and some time brothers is that diamonds r always kept in high security coz if it gets a single scratch its price is lowered and no one like to watch towards it but on the other hand guys r like pebbles who dont hav any such type of value as girls do

I have two very independent children who argue with each other, pick and sometimes even fight and let me tell you she can give him a run for his money but you let someone say or do something out of the way to my daughter and my son will put them in their place whether that be verbally or physically. He once said that he can do it but he won't stand by and let anyone mistreat his sister.
