When you see people begging for money do you give it to them? I buy them something to eat. Because they say they are hungry. Do you happen to agree with me?

I give out spare change when i have it. But there are some ungreatful beggers that seem to expect 10 dollars when you can only give them 2. i figure as long as they have the money, they can buy whatever they need or want because im not gonna buy it for them.

Ahhh beggers. You got to love them. When I was younger I was downtown Chicago with my grade school class. A man followed us and begged for money from each one of us (about 21). It scared me then so I had a fear of them ever since then... I now am not scared of them since they are people and I know better now. But I do not give them money for anything. I went to the Taste and talked to one of them and he told me that no matter what he does... he can get money and the next thing you know he is drinking it away. He said that he even tries to not do it. So I just told myself to either donate to a homeless shelter or volunteer. But buying them food is a good one... I just dont see how someone cant make any money... I do not want to give them money that we work for. They are not working for it.

I haven't seen any in recent years, but I don't go many places except to work and to church. I remember one morning as I was driving to work seeing a homeless person. Something made me turn around and go back by him because I had 2 sandwiches with me. I gave him one of them and he took it. Another time I saw a homeless person under an underpass so I went to a convenience store and bought some food that would last awhile...you know, pop-top cans of stuff. I felt funny and laughed at myself wondering how much of a haul he made that day.

No,i may not agree with yoy...coz,the people who beg are really in need of money...f we give them money, they can eat whatever they need i.e.,they may get options to eat their lovable items..f we r givin them food,we force them to eat whether they like it or not...so,giving money to beggars s better than supplying food...

If that's the case, then you ask them what food they want and buy it for them. That solves the problem right there. Again, some beggars are fakes and frauds. I've seen some who have homes and cars that are on the street claiming to be homeless. I live in a city full of homeless people and bums who are too lazy to help themselves.

I agree. I never give out money because most of the time they do not use it for food when they say their hungry. I have no problem buying them something to eat.

I don't give them money. I rather give them food. If you are really homless then you will gladly except the food.

I do see this beggers but some i know they really need money coz they're not able to go for work. But some really look in good body condition.I think they are healthy enough to do some job..at least earning something rather than sitting like a lazy bug begging for money! Those i think really honest,i will give them not..but for those who is good, then i am really sorry!

giving people money only encourages more and more people to start begging as it is a source of easy money without actually doing any work. its really sad because we end up ignoring those who really need the money. i try to give food as well or if a person is disabled i generally give them money but in places like Bombay where they purposely mutilate themselves just so we will give them money, even that becomes a problem

Yes! I definitely I agree with you. I don't give money to them because we can't assure if they will use it to buy food. Better give them food to eat. As what the bible says, "Feed the Hungry...."

I live in Indi where there are a lot of beggars.Sometimes they can annoy you by pestering.I think as long as they are not handicapped beggars have no right to ask anyone money. They should try their best to fend for themselves.Correct me if Iam wrong!

Yes, sometimes. It depends on how they are begging, and what they are going to use it for. If we are near a place with that item, I will walk over and purchase it for them, so I know its not going to be used on addictions. Ask them what they would like to eat, and buying the food for them is the best. - DNatureofDTrain
