What do you know about antimatter?

Anti matter as clear from the name it is anti of any particle.See we all know that energy & mass are interconvertable.Now to convert mass to energy is very easy as we have achieved in nuclear fission & fusion.But what about the reverse??? Energy can also be converted to mass.It is in the process of converting energy to mass that these anti particle are produced.Anti particle of any particle have the property just opposite to that of the particle.It has just the opposite charge & spin as that of particle.Anti particle are such particle which when combine with the particle will annihilate the same & will produce energy i.e. both particle & anti particle will disappear & only energy will be there. You would be quite suprised to know there is an anti particle for every particle we have in this universe.It provides many solutios to the question related to Black Hole & origin of Universe. Who knows there can be a universe of anti matter as of matter & the two combine together to give the fate of Universe & only energy will remain there????

Well from what i know I think anti matter can be created by smashing to atoms together head on in a partical accelorator. though you only get very tiny amounts. In star trek antimatter is used to create the propultion of the star ship enterprise.

Antimatter is matter consists of antiparticles.One of the great discoveries of modern physics was that for every type of elementary entity of matter and radiation,there exists a correspoinding conjugate type of entity(an antiparticle).In the antiparticle,certain of the particle defining properties are identical(conjugation invariant),and others are reversed in sign(conjugation reversing). Antimatter is identical to the ordinary particles in every way except that the electric charge,sign and magnetic moment are reversed.When an antiparticle,such as a positron(anti-electron),antiproton or antineutron meets its respective particle,both are annihilated.It is possible,though unlikely,that there are stars and galaxies composed entirely of antimatter.

antimatter is exactly like matter but it has opposite charges and when they come into contact with each other the destroy each other and all of their mass is converted into energy, it is way more powerful than nuclear fission or fusion because they only convert about 2.6% of their mass to energy as opposed to the 100% that antimatter offers, for more information go to www.cern.ch
