I would say that, to a certain degree, yes, I am.
I think I get a certain picture in my mind of how I think things should go in a situation and when it doesn't go that way it drives me crazy! Especially when I see that it's not going the way that I think it should because of what I deem as someone else's stupidity.
And I don't think I'm a control freak about other people so much as I am about situations. Take Christmas, for example. I literally start thinking about what Christmas is going to be like in my house around January. As I'm disassembling my tree, I'm considering what it is that I want to do for the following year. I like my table scapes to look a certain way. I like to follow a certain color scheme each year. I want to have certain ornaments on my tree while others are to remain packed away for another year. It's really actually quite stupid when I think about it, but it's just how my mind works. I even go out and make special trips right after Christmas to shop the clearance sales so that I can find materials for my next Christmas plans. I'm really pathetic.... *sigh*

NO! You are definitely not pathetic. We see how things should be and we have a mental image of them, isn't that human? We all have our own 'ways' and idiosyncracies of how things should be done as long as we don't force or coerce this onto other people using manipulation tactics then that is ok.

I wouldn't say I am a control freak because it feels as if I am always the one being controlled in my relationship. But I think that is mainly because I am not as independent this year as I was last. When I was working, I was very independent and refused to be controlled. But with me not working right now, I feel as if I am in a very submissive position.
When a crisis happens though...I do tend to be the one in control. It is probably because I have had so much training in the military, that my training just kicks in and I start to control the situation. However, I would also not take control if I already saw that anyone person was in control and handling the situation well.
Hence, I do not think that I am a control freak. :)
